The new owners of this hotel are current in the process of bringing the facilities up to stretch after many years of apparent neglect. And they are doing a wonderful job. Yes, things are still a bit rough around the edges, but our room was spotlessly clean, and the owners and all of their staff were exceptionally friendly and extremely accomodating. Betws-y-Coed is a great town to stay in Snowdonia, and I'd recommend the Gwydyr to any of my friends without hesitation.
This was the 4th time we've stayed at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel. We stayed for one night in a deluxe room. The room was spacious (sofa downstairs and spiral staircase to bedroom and bathroom upstairs), comfortable and clean. We arrived at 11am and went to enquire whether we could leave our bags while we went into Chester but were able to check in straight away. The coffee bar/Brasserie is really lovely; almost a conservatory feel to it. The Christmas decorations were up and they were just amazing! There is a bus service that runs right past the hotel into the centre of Chester, costing £4.50 per person return, which was really convenient. The buses run every 10-15 minutes until 11pm. We ate in the bar that night, although the restaurant menu also looked very good. All in all, we would highly recommend this hotel.

Our room was comfortable and very well equipped. To begin with I found the size and grandeur of this award winning hotel slightly intimidating. The welcome and professionalism of the staff soon made this a really relaxing enjoyable stay. The food was excellent, with something for every taste at breakfast. The interiors, gardens, grounds, surroundings and location are all beautiful.

Asked for a room away from banging doors (small baby with me) plus not too far away from the second booked room and hotel staff were able to oblige. They were very knowledgeable about the layout of the floors.
Much cleaner rooms than Travel Lodge and Premier Inn. Only slight downside was the noise from the traffic when windows are open. However, will definitely stay there again.
