Just enjoyed a weekend of sport in Sydney and used the Mantra Chatswood as a base. Great location close to transport and took the opportunity to take a look at the Vivid festival on The Concourse in Chatswood. Amazing light show worth a look.
We live in country NSW and had to travel to Sydney for medical reasons, and needed somewhere conveniently located to the hospital. The place that we normally stayed at was booked out, but the Royal Pacific fitted the bill nicely, so it's another one on our list. We found the hotel very clean and comfortable, the staff pleasant and the food, although not a very extensive menu, good. The lift was definitely a plus.

Staff dont go out of the way to give you a special experience but nice caring bar man. the bar shuts very early. Great for a long business trip as the wifi is fantastic. nice quiet rooms and near the office i was working in, so could walk to work. high floors have v.g. views.
Pros: Well equipped studio room with kitchenette and washing machine. Room was relatively clean. Supermarket in the same building was convenient.
Cons: Expensive parking. Rooms facing Military road was quite noisy. Can't close the curtain fully as the aircon was built into the window.
The McLaren Hotel is in a quiet street with good access to the Pacific Highway and north Sydney. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with décor consistent with the period of the building. The en-suite bathroom in our room was smallish but functional, with very good hot water.

North Sydney is a compact secondary central business district. High-rise offices, cafés, restaurants, pubs, and a few small shopping malls dominate. Busy from Monday–Friday, it quiets down on weekends, but within 1 km is the relaxed, al fresco café, pub, and restaurant scene of Blues Point Road. Trendy Kirribilli is not much further away at the northern base of the Harbour Bridge.
