“Constructive criticism”

The Black Tuna Restaurant was uninviting due to loud music, low light, no one to attend to us and no other patrons in the restaurant. The night we arrived we were tired and the last thing we wanted to do was to venture out. We arrived at the restaurant and waited for anyone to seat us/serve us/acknowledge us but no one came. We left and had a great dinner at 456 Fish. The restaurant looked like it was set up for a high school prom with the loud music and dark atmosphere. The next morning we asked if the room rate included breakfast , she had to check and finally came back with a yes. At this day and age don;t all restaurants provide breakfast with the rate? If we had not asked, we would not have gotten breakfast. Some patrons were not as lucky--they asked and did not get breakfast with the room. Its confusing for patrons since some get and some don't. When I booked there were not 2 different rates--one w/breakfast and one without. These types of things should be made easier for the patron. I'm used to going up to the front desk where they actually tell you "breakfast is included with your room rate and its from 6:00-11:00." Make it easy for the customer.

“Nice hotel, but bathroom could had been cleaner”

Overall all it was a nice stay at this hotel. The only thing I didnt like was that the bathtub and toilet was a lil dirty, seen worse but still it should had been cleaner, and the shower head was broken so when I took a shower the shower head spit water all over the floor and made it look like it flooded and we couldn't get it fixed until the next morning. And the area it's located at is right on the border line of the hood and the city. But we didn't have any problems with that and the bed was a little to soft so i was hard to sleep. But overall it was a nice hotel

“I liked Norfolk”

Staff wonderful, Had problem with A/C. They resolved it by moving me to another room. Older hotel and in center of town so walked a lot to get down to the water , attractions and restaurant area. Hotel near what seemed to be a low income housing area but had no problems. Would like to return to see more of Norfolk.

Area recommendations

The waterfront area with the Wisconsin and the Victory Rover cruise. Touring the ship impressive and then doing the water tour to see the Navy base and the cargo shipping terminals amazing. Helps put into perspective the recent debt crisis discussions.

“Great for Vendors working at Harborfest and reasonable price!!”

Second year stay in the month of June and will most likely return next year during the Harborfest weekend. Friendly staff and very clean.

Area recommendations

Downtown Norfolk is a great place to stay. There are great restaurants/bars, museums, and events always taking place at towne point park right on the water. Don't forget to support the Norfolk Tides at Harbor Park as well. Great atmosphere!

“Great location”

A/C leaked on carpet in room. Other than that, great place to stay. Short trip to base, and short trip to airport from this hotel.

“Disappointed!!”

The condition of the hotel and significantly fallen in the last few years. I remember going there for events in Norfolk and enjoying my stay and enjoying the amenities. Staff was ill prepared. Only one computer was working. They gave me someone else's room which I realized as I was opening the door. The in-house restaurant food was terrible. I don't blame the cook. The menu was limited and they were out of many things.

Area recommendations

There are some great hotels in the immediate vicinity. This just wasn't one of them. I had stayed at this particular hotel in the past and been more than satisfied. I wasn't on this trip.

“To Loud”

The room was okay and a nice size and the bed was comfortable, however we did not get to sleep much due to all the noise in the hallways and surrounding rooms. The outside noise of trains and sirens were also a bother during the late hours when we would have preferred to be sleeping. Not sure why there was so much yelling and loud people all night long in the hall areas. Because of the lack of sleep I would not stay at this hotel again.
