“Not your fathers Sheraton”

Sheraton is usually a hotel of choice by me, but this is not the Sheraton I am used to. The hotel smells. LIke they got his with a big wave and never properly cleaned up afterwards. Plus the check in girl does not make an effort to accomodate and was borderline rude. The rest of the staff is really nice, but check in is where the first impression was made.

Area recommendations

Catch 31 and the Steakhouse right next to it are great. However, make a reservation and select outdoor seating, especially at the steakhouse.

“Sheraton VA Beach - Off Season”

Hotel staff are outstanding. However, there is a 18 story building going up along side of the prettier pool which means noise and construction workers. The outdoor pool near the cabana rooms needs to be cleaned. Also we had a room with a loud air conditioner (Cabana Room 323) and then moved to the 2nd floor. Again, staff are oustanding and the breakfast is also top rated.

“Great location & friendly staff but very overpriced”

This hotel is in the perfect location (right on the boardwalk at 36th St.) and the staff is very friendly but it is VERY overpriced for the overall condition of the hotel. The room was pretty small with a balcony that was level to the roof of the kitchen with noisy ventilation system--it felt like we were in a little cave when we would go out on the balcony to check out what little bit of a view that we had. The sliding glass door from the room to the balcony would not fully close so we were forced to use the safety locking bar to secure our room from the outside. The elevators are pretty run down looking and it would sometimes take 10 minutes or more and 3 chances to catch the elevator to or from our room due to the small size of the elevators and the amount of people and luggage that were constantly using them. The hotel offers a secure spot to lock up bikes right outside of the lobby where valet and security are at around the clock, so that was very convenient. All in all, we enjoyed our stay at the beach and the lobby and restaurant of this hotel were nice, but we do not feel that the rates of this hotel match up to the condition that you would expect the rooms and elevators to be in for a luxury hotel chain. Would recommend to others only if you don't mind overpaying for a room that isn't much different then what you would expect from a less expensive hotel chain.

“Good location, nice room, comfy bed.”

I would recommend this hotel. The location is the best part. The beach in front is not nearly as packed as the rest of the beach. We had an oceanfront king room on the top floor. The beds are comfy. Everything was in working order. The shower was awesome. Great water pressure and very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Free parking is conveniently right across the street. Valet is not necessary. I would go back.

Area recommendations

I would recommend staying in anything above 30th street. It is much calmer.

“Great Escape!”

Beautiful hotel and perfect location. Very friendly service. The children had a fantastic time being able to play on the beach then retire in the outdoor pool! Tons of restaraunts and shops within walking distance. Definitely coming back!

Area recommendations

The north end of the beach is great for familys as it has less traffic and commotion.

“My 22nd Birthday!”

My friends and I drove down from NYC and we had a great time. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is extremely pleasant! My friends and I bad breakfast at the hotel and it was delicious (try and visit Pocahontas Pancakes). The location was great! The pools at the hotel were clean and big. I can't wait to come back and stay for longer :)!

“Good - But a little Overpriced”

We got an ocenfront room, and it was clean and the service was very good. The hotel is good, but next time we're going to look for a little better value.

“Ben's Quick Getaway to Virginia Beach”

Hotel is in a great location. Room was very clean and had beautiful ocean view. The staff were all very friendly. The kids loved the beach, the bike rentals, indoor pool and outdoor pool. A few things the hotel can work on - need free accessable wireless all throughout the hotel, not just in the lounge. The indoor pool needed a better cleaning. The outdoor pools claimed to be 81 degrees, but given this was April, they were definitely not heated and 81 degrees! but luckily we had beautiful weather and the kids played in the ocean and pool anyway!

Area recommendations

Virginia Beach North seemed to be a nicer neighborhood. Seemed to be more families.

When to go

Spring Break was not crowded at all, even though they said the hotels were filled. The beaches were very light, and parking was fine.

Dining

PI-zzeria was fun, although the service was slow. For a cheaper alternative, there is an excellent NY style pizzeria and ice cream store almost next door. We also ate at Angelo's which had great food.

“Great choice in VA Beach”

The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the hotel staff were extremely friendly throughout our stay. They offered complimentary valet parking for our car and had good recommendations for nearby restaurants and things to do.

“Do not go”

Do not go Not too happy about hotel and staff. Treated badly on front desk and not given any attention. As bad as front desk our stay was not too pleasant since very poor response from staff. Never go back nor recommend doing so. Not to mention we paid high price and 0% satisfaction.
