“Not Impressed”

We saw roaches, contenintal breakfast was ok. only served pastries and cereal, coffee and juice. There was no internet availiable. Was close to base, however neighborhood wasn't the best. Close to beach.

Not as nice as some of the Howard Johnson,s I have stayed in but was OK..

“Decent Location-TERRIBLE SERVICE”

The size of the room and the condition of the room was great but the overall service of the hotel staff was terrible. First, check in was delayed (should have been at 3PM), then hotel front desk left the counter without letting us why or how long they will be away. Worst thing was when we arrived back to our rooms at 4PM our room was not even serviced to! We had to go to her directly for new towels, soap, and for the trash to be taken out. There are also gigantic spiders on the ceiling outside that weave giant webs along the balcony. I have actually stayed here before a few times last year and never seen it in this condition. I will never return again.

THE IN ROOM SAFE NEEDED NEW BATTERIES TO OPERATE, SHOWER CURTAIN IN BATHROOM HAD MOLD ON IT, POWER WENT OUT WHEN HAIR DRYER IN USE, AND LEAKING TOILET

“A decent place for a cheap stay”

Check-in, check-out, and anything else dealing with the front desk was really slow. The HVAC unit in my room did not blow cold air. (I seem to frequently get rooms with faulty heat or AC. Not exclusive to this hotel.) The in-room safe did not work, and the security latch on the door was broken off. Internet access was via a data cable, which you can get from the front desk. The data jack was rather inconveniently located, but signal speed and quality were good. The room was clean and beds were comfortable enough. The hotel is not located where Expedia's map indicates, and is actually about 3 1/2 miles away. Fortunately, I was familiar with the area, and found it easily after calling for their location. Overall, the hotel served my purpose, a landing place while in town visiting family, and if the price was right, I would consider staying again.

“Not what we expected”

Having stayed in a Howard Johnson before, it was not what I expected. The furniture was old. The wall paper was old. The carpet was old and wrinkled in places. The room safe wouldn't open. It was not well maintained. I will not be going back to this hotel. I would rather pay a higher price than stay at this hotel again.

“Jack and Ann The Best”

Jack and Ann were extremley helpful and courteous. They made me and my fiance's stay very comfortable. We are going to move to Virginia Beach and they were very helpful to us. The efficiency room #201 was a great size but the only complaint that I have is that the bathroom needed to be updated. The bathtub was gritty and the walls needed a paint job.I love to take baths and I would not sit in that tub. I like to get away and enjoy myself and a relaxing bath at the end of the day or early morning is my idea of vacation. The sink also was not good, it was old and needed to be re-glazed. I hope the Howard Johnson's can update that room because we did enjoy the rest of the room. The shower was good, the hot water was EXCELLENT. I wish I could have taken some nice hot baths.

“Jack Masters makes your stay memorable”

Room was comfortable and had a refrigerator, microwave and a coffee pot. Family TV. Restaurants and grocery store within walking distance. Clean and has continental breakfast every morning. Very friendly environment.

“Pay more for another place!!!!”

Room smelled. Broken furniture outside, over 30 minutes from downtown, we where told to go and get a plunger to fix our own toliet then hung up on. Room service did NOT clean the room or even give us clean towels. BAD BAD area. Pay more and stay elsewhere. HORRIBLE trip!!!! This review could go on and on.......just skip this place.
