“Descent Hotel, As advertised/expected based on description”

The location can't be beat! Town Center has everything within walking distance. My kids liked the pool and the Hot Tub worked great. Wireless internet worked great in the room. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was not included but was reasonable; kids under 12 eat free breakfast. Room service food was good. Bar was adequate. Stayed over Thanksgiving 2011 and they had free continental breakfast that morning and free pre-made turkey or ham sandwhich, chips, water, and pies (pumkin, apple, pecan) set out for dinner. Items in their convinence store were resaonbly priced. They had one laundry machine and dryer on the 5th floor.

Area recommendations

Town Center or Downtown Norfolk. The hotels are cleaner and newer. Stay away from Beach hotels if not interested in the beach. They are mostly older hotels and not as nice.

“not impressed”

We checked out after the first night and checked into a new hotel. The smell of deodorizer in the room was so overwhelming that by 1am my sinuses were so congested that I couldn't sleep. It was obvious that the deodorizer was used to cover the smell of cigarette smoke. The bed was lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. When we explained why we were checking out and spoke to a manager, she said that the hotel was in the process of going non-smoking. As of then they had not been able to replace the carpeting and paint all the rooms. She also said that the beds were controlled by knobs on the beds (hidden by the comforter). When we asked her how we would know this, she pointed to a sign on the counter at check-in. There were no signs in the room and no mention of it at check-in. The manager offered to move us to a truly non-smoking room and was very helpful. When I returned home, I called expedia and promptly received a refund. Thank you expedia for not giving me the runaround.

“Quality place but few management issues”

This is a good place to stay with quality places to eat or shop around it, but management needs to address a few things. Temperature of pool was posted as 84, but was quite cold, seemed about 80-needs to be raised a few degrees. Parking in garage across street would be allright if the hotel would reserve a couple of lower floors so that patrons did not have to go to 5th floor each time they went in and out. Timing of room cleaning is off. We would be gone nearly all day and return to room not cleaned, then have to get out of room to wait for cleaning when housekeeper was ready to clean our room. This happened about every day of our stay. On the plus side, lady at front desk was very accommodating to get us cups of fresh coffee for the road when we departed at 4 am.

“Virginia Beach 2011”

It was a wonderful stay. I would definitely stay here again, as well as recommend to others. In walking distance to many shops and restaurants, and movie theaters. Only minutes away from VA Beach Boardwalk.

“Right in the middle of everything”

Very nice hotel. Enjoyed the visit to Virginia Beach. Comfortable and welcoming setting. Town Center is convenient to the highways and a short drive to the beach.

“Very Comfortable Stay”

This was not my first stay at this hotel. Super value and very friendly service.

The entire city of Va Beach is friendly and worth your time. Hotel is very near high end shopping , with plenty to eat. Beach and boardwalk areas are well maintained and family friendly and very safe. Mt. Trashmore is worth a visit as well.

“Very Pleasant Hotel”

I had a very positive experience staying at this hotel. I had a very late arrival and the front desk seemingly had my particulars in mind without having to look it up. In short, they were expecting me and were fully prepared. It made the check-in process short and sweet, and established a tone that they were happy to have me as a guest. The rooms are nice, clean, and quiet. I don't recall having heard even the slightest hallway noise, which is rare to say. The only knock I have against the hotel is that the parking is not terribly convenient. You have to park in the garage across the street. While there is no charge for parking, it is pretty inconvenient. The surrounding neighborhood is very nice, with a substantial number of good restaurants. Everything feels new or renovated, which leaves a very positive impression. I highly recommend this hotel.
