Excellent hotel close to Norwich

Posted 05-Apr-2015
Pros: Nothing was too much bother for the staff
We were looking for an independent hotel that was pet friendly, close to Norwich. The Old Rectory is an excellent hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights there. The staff were welcoming to us and Benji our dog. There is a reasonable sized woodland area across the main road from the hotel to walk dogs and any number of destinations to explore within a short car journey from the hotel (we had several trips to the seaside which is only 20 or so minutes away - Norwich is even closer but in the opposite direction). The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and a view out to the well set out gardens. The shower in the bathroom was powerful and hot! All the facilities are on the ground level. We recommend the cooked breakfast!

Pleasant hotel situated just outside Norwich

Posted 03-Apr-2015
My wife and I stayed two nights at this compact and pleasantly situated hotel a short distance from Norwich. The hotel is very clean and comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. The room was a reasonable size with a large and comfortable double bed. We dined in the restaurant the first night and felt the food was excellent, and although there was an 80th Birthday celebration going on in another dining room we were adequately looked after. Breakfast was most enjoyable with a full variety of food available There is amble parking and we would certainly stay there again.

Quiet friendly hotel in lovely surroundings

Posted 24-Dec-2014
Large clean en-suite room in excellent decorative condition and tastefully furnished. Good heating and plenty of hot water. Very comfortable bed. Friendly helpful staff. Hotel and grounds beautifully presented. Pleasant walks nearby and only a short drive to local towns. Good value for money.

Return Visit

Posted 23-Dec-2014
Pros: Ground floor accommodation
We stayed for the weekend whilst visiting family and found the Rectory to be as good as our previous visit. Bedroom good size with plenty of hangers in the wardrobe and drawer space. Food and service excellent. Fresh nice big towels changed daily. A very good point about this hotel is that all the rooms are on the ground floor. Certainly will have another visit

adjoining room.

Posted 03-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel was lovely and comfortable and the full English breakfast was great, however our room had an adjoining door between the two rooms. Unfortunately we could hear the couple talking next door very clearly causing us lack of sleep and an early wake up call Shame because very pleased with hotel. Advice would be, check when booking that its not an adjoining room.

Beautiful grounds and comfortable rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good to stay somewhere that wasn't a chain. Good choice of breakfasts.

Great family run hotel

Ideally located for our shopping trip to Norwich. Hotel very clean and staff friendly. Breakfast and evening meal were great as was our host. We would have liked to explore the grounds but time and weather were against us.

old peoples home

Hotel smelt of damp and cheap cleaning products, room was comfortable but again a bit smelly and not very clean. bathroom was mouldy and not very clean, shower blocked and didnt run too well fruit salad at breakfast was quite nice but the cooked breakfast was very poor, baby on the counter in kitchen photo only shows old part of building, not the actual hotel which is a 70's type building like a retirement home. back garden designed by del boy trotter
