“perfect for a get away”
About 11 stops on metro from city centre, free parking, big rooms, bar, free breakfast!!! Only slight downside is that the bar plays music till after 11 which is a but annoying as its quite loud, but apart from that, no problems at all!!
“Worth staying here for the breakfast alone (Partially joking!)”
Stayed in 2-bedroom apartment with sofa bed in lounge. Bad points: Inadequate lighting, too dim in areas. Wall light in lounge filthy from years of dust build up inside. I cleaned it out myself, which is exactly what I did the last time we stayed in this hotel. Filthy wall light in bathroom also. No access to clean this one! You are likely to be disturbed by communal noise from the bar area and hotel lounge, and the loud music, and the noise from people at breakfast. The layout of the hotel is such that in spite of the internal double glazing, substantial noise will get through to your apartment. Irritating, even if you are not trying to sleep. This is all made worse by bar music continuing beyond 11pm on 1 of our 3 nights. When I told the receptionist at 11pm he asked "Is it disturbing you?", giving the impression he was not that concerned. Bad also: uncleared empty pizza boxes, orange peel, and half a discarded apple in cupboard - probably from previous guests. Dirty fridge salad box. WIFI patchy/out of order. Now the good, which in our opinion FAR OUTWEIGHS the bad! Comfortable beds, including sofa bed. Separate WC. Air extractors in bathroom and WC working! Excellent breakfast system, quality, choice. Pleasing contemporary design. Correct room temperature. Spacious bedrooms, good storage. Dishwasher. Excellent oven/microwave. Excellent hotel, highly recommended, in spite of bad points. Majority of staff rated highly. Overall excellent value for money
“Good breakfast, comfortable and nice decor in hotel and rooms.”
Around 10 minutes walk from metro (cité scientifique) Around 20 minutes walk from a centre commerciale where there is a hypermarché. Alternatively, you can get the metro and get off at the next station at Triolo and the centre commerciale is right outside. Hotel is cleaned three times a week in the morning. Breakfast buffet is great! They serve cheese(babybel, brie etc), pastries (croissants, pain au chocolat), baguettes, different types of ham, butter, condiments (nutella, specaloos (yum!), peanut butter, jam etc), cereal and fruit. If you ask, they serve fried eggs/omlettes or crepe! In terms of drinks, they had really nice juices in the fridge such as kiwi juice, banana juice, grapefruit juice orange juice etc. They also had an expresso machine or normal coffee. Its a buffet so you can have as much as you want :) The bar is nice. Drinks are at a reasonable price. Very comfortable seating area and nice atmosphere and modern decor. WIFI is free. Bed is comfortable. TV is available (french TV is always fun to watch). Chose a studio appartment- Included a small kitchen area, bathroom and bedroom. Smaller than expected but nice to live in for 2 weeks. If you want a proper appartment I'd reccomend splashing out a bit on the bigger appartments with a living room. Took a sneaky peek and they look lovely. Staff speak very good english if you prefer.
“Well Impressed”
What a great find Helpful staff comfortable room reasonable prices We were in Lille for the Braderie so being on the edge of the city was a great move peace and quiet away from the noise of the Braderie. 2 minutes from the Metro station cheap weekend pass 4.6 euro use as often as you like. Great Kitchen in the apartment and comfy sitting area Wifi worked great so didn't have to pay Vodafone rip off prices. If you are travelling with Kids I would recommend this hotel as the apartments are very spacious. I can only say some of the previous reviewers must have super Human hearing as when the door to our room was shut you could hear nothing (Apart from the thunder we had the mother of all storms Saturday night) The Breakfast was great unlike most French Budget hotels where you get a croissant or French bread this hotel made fresh crepes and eggs cooked on demand along with a good selection of other stuff.
“Out of town”
We have stayed here before, 2 years ago, on a weekend visit to Lille and would still return again. It's very close to the University campus, quite a way out from the city centre but a very short drive from the nearest metro station which will get you into the centre in about 20 minutes. It has a bit of a holiday camp feel to it, rather than a cosy hotel, with an open plan area for breakfast, evening drinks etc. Breakfast is good with freshly made crepes each morning. The apartment was clean, but not serviced every day - check the list to find out which days to expect service. The room was quiet and had a comfy bed. The only downside was the lack of a bath plug and poor air conditioning system which cooled the room a bit but not enough. All in all, a good value place to stay.
“Not Impressed”
This hotel is designed for longer term stays, but is not designed for long term comfort. It is an all concrete building with an open atrium. The bar in the atrium stays open until 11 and all rooms face the atrium/bar. Since the building is concrete and 2 stories there is a great deal of echoing that occurs. If you are wanting to sleep, wait until after 11. There was no extra bedding provided and the bathroom linens were minimal. I did especially like the towel warmer though. There is not much around this hotel as it is located in a business park. There was a great restaurant within walking distance called Le Pet't Cote that served delicious and reasonably priced meals. The morning buffet at the hotel had a wide variety of juices, breads and fruit. There was a chef who would make eggs and crepes if you desired. We stayed one night and for the price and the number of people travelling (4), this hotel met our needs, but I would not go out of my way to stay here again.
“Loved it, it was so convenient”
Clean, tidy, convenient, friendly staff, comfortable room, free parking, breakfast included, conveniently close to metro station. Need to say more?
“Great deal for family holiday”
We wanted a mini European adventure and stayed for 3 nights with 2 kids. We travelled by car from the hotel to Paris (2 hrs), to Bruges (1 hr) & to Gent (1 hr) - not same day! The mini kitchen gave us flexibility to eat-in if we wanted. You can also order pizza to your room from the local shop. Staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast was good and no shortages. Kids had fun and enjoyed their stay. The sofa bed was surprinsingly comfortable. Drawbacks: - Not so great without a car as the hotel is located on the outskirts of town. - It can get noisy at night especially for rooms near the Atrium. - Rooms are cleaned Mon/Wed/Fri so don't fill-up your bins! Great family holiday and would certainly go back another time.
“Apartment Hotel for Grown-up Students (and other travelers)”
Off the beaten track in the "Cite Scientifique" (Science City) district of Lille, it is modern, clean, an example of modern French architecture, with rooms surrounding an atrium full of skylights, but the atrium colors are in dark browns and earth tones. Rooms are large but spartan with all modern conveniences, including kitchenette with utensils. Breakfast, not usually included in the price of most French hotels, was more than adequate, and included in the price. Staff was friendly and correct in manner. This hotel is great if you have a car (adequate free parking, too), otherwise you;ll need to use taxis. It is near freeways but hard to find the first time
“As usual, very good all round.”
I'm slightly nervous about giving this hotel a great review, because each time we go there are more and more British tourists staying there, and it's less of a "best kept secret". So in that spirit .. don't go to this hotel, you wouldn't like it.
