“A positive and enjoyable experience”
We were nearly put off by the negative reviews about our hotel, but decided the positve ones far exceeded these. We did not think the breakfast was worth 16 Euros and found another hotel much cheaper (5 Euros). Our hotel was good value for what we paid through Expedia. The walls were a little thin in our bedroom, as we could hear "noises" from next door and a loud TV somewhere else in the hotel very late at night. Our room was in a quiet part of the hotel, despite that. We had a great time in Lille and found it very interesting. Travelling to Arras by train was very expensive, we thought, as it wasn't that far away ( 38 Euros return for 2), so we don't recommend doing that. Everywhere buying food and drink was very expensive, not helped by the rate for the Euro. There is a great zoo and park in Lille, worth visiting.
“Not as good as it looks on the web!”
An unusual room with a large downstairs area that with only two of us staying was totally wasted! The bed is upstairs on a gallery along with the only TV so "sitting-area" was doubly odd. Also smell of drains was not a pleasant background!! Then breakfast!! not enough room for guests, not enough staff and not enough food! So long long wait to sit in a cramped area, then self service with a lot of the items gone and not to be replaced! Location is fine and the bed was comfortable etc so for one night it was OK for any longer suggest look elsewhere!
“Spacious, clean room and good location”
We walked to the hotel from the Eurostar station which took us leisurely 20 minutes. Checked in hassle free and was given a duplex room, i.e sitting room downstairs and upstairs to a the bedroom and bathroom (although the loo was downstairs which means you have to be careful in the middle of the night!) Staff were pleasant and helpful. Pretty pleased with our accommodation for the price we payed. No restaurant as the next street along is almost entirely restaurants. They do breakfast at 15 Euros but we didn't try it. Just in case you're not aware but I think tea and coffee making facilities is a particularly British type of thing so take a travel kettle and ask for some milk if you like a brew at a moments notice! TV included movie channels which are ok if you speak French of course and BBC world service for the rest if us. It is a pleasant walk to the centre down cobbled streets with loads of (v.expensive) boutiques and a small market on Sunday mornings (Wednesdays as well I think). All in all happy with hotel. Lille is a nice city but very expensive! We spent about 200 pounds on food and drink (not including any alcohol) over 3 nights/days.
“Hotel Les Tours Lille: centre ville”
