great alternative to the "standard" two hiltons in nicosia, which are quite expensive, as is the Holiday Inn. Nicely rennovated....being a "good american" I had wanted the air conditioning even cooler during the sweltering 2 days i had to spend in nicosia...but apparently the hotel is "pre-set" to not go under 24 degree C. But, to partially accomodate, the staff put an extra electric key in the wall switch which allowed a/c to stay on when i was gone....wasteful perhaps, but kept the room much cooler. So, that was a nice touch.
Great breakfast, free wi-fi, and free drinks in mini fridge. definitely will use again.
I stayed at the hotel for two nights as a business traveler on March 9. The hotel is in the center of the downtime near everything a traveler needed. It was a good location. It is a good place for shopping as well as for business. I have booked an executive room, which was spacious, clean, with decent furniture. My room had a window to the Turkish part of Nicosia. Toilet is very clean and needed toiletry. Staff were very helpful and their English was good. The only thing that bother me is the safe box, which did not work. As for the breakfast, it has variety of fruits, honey, jams, pastries, eggs, beverages, cold and hot. Internet was available in all hotel area, and in the lobby, the hotel provide free coffee machine for guests. I enjoyed the hotel.
Altius is walking distance (about 1 mile) from Nicosia's town center making it very convenient to see that part of the city and the archeology museum just outside it.
If you travel to Cyprus, though, I recommend you take a taxi or have gps as the street signs are small and difficult to spot at times and the streets are windy and have the same name for only small segments. This made the hotel a bit hard to find.
Other than the room being a bit on the small side, this is a nice new modern hotel. A good breakfast buffet. On checking in I was given two free wifi details and told if I had a third device just to ask. Just one thing - on the Expedia web site it says check in 2-10pm, which had me a little concerned as my plane was due in at 9pm (and was an hour late). However, I discovered elsewhere that they are open 24/7. Apparently, there are some regulations about stating check in times in Cyprus. So you can safely ignore the "check in 2-10pm" if you are arriving later.
We spent 3 days just before Christmas and loved it. Exceptionally helpful staff, great breakfast, and absolutely brilliant fitness center/swimming pool and spa. Only 10 min drive from the center of Nicosia. 10/10.
