“Great time in Nice”
The hotel had everything I was looking for - a central location, safe in the room, fridge in the room, Wifi access (free), TV (with BBC1 and BBC News) and a balcony. It was a fairly average size and wasn't anything too spectacular - fairly basic - but was absolutely fine for our trip. It's a few blocks back from the sea and a few more blocks South of the train station. Also about a km west of the main shopping street, so walking distance to most of the areas you'll want to visit. The balcony we had overlooked Bvd. Victor Hugo which is a busy, but tree-lined street lined with several restaurants. The reception staff were especially friendly and had excellent English while being patient with my "dodgy" French!
“Great!”
Great hotel, well worth the money. Amazing location, really helpful staff and a comfortable room with a sizable bathroom. I would definitely stay at the La Malmaison Hotel again if visiting Nice.
“Decent 3* Hotel in Good Location”
Although the hotel is basic, it is clean and in a good location. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and that is what counts. Our room was large and comfortable but somewhat spartan in appearance. Not that it really mattered as we were out and about most of the time. We had the buffet breakfast once and it was fine but you can get cheaper elsewhere as there are many cafes in the vicinity. Overall, it is a good 3* hotel. We were made to feel welcome and we enjoyed our stay.
“good location, great service”
we stayed here for three days and it was very nice. close to the med. sea and walking distance to many restaurants and the old city.
“gr8 location”
very easy to get from train station 10 min walk,3 blocks to beach, good breakfast very nice people gr8 city!!!!
“Nice modern hotel, halfway between beach and train station”
My sister and I stayed at this hotel for three nights in July. The hotel staff were very helpful and the location was ideal: only a 5 minute walk from either the train station or the beach. Rooms were quiet and clean. Did not try the breakfast, opting for better value at a small café along the Promenade des anglais (about 5 Euros each for croissant and a café au lait). Best of all, our room had a small balcony overlooking the town. The perfect place for enjoying a glass of champagne before heading out to dinner!
“Would definitely stay here again!”
Loved the hotel location and it was a fabulous breakfast. We were on the top floor with a balcony and a wonderful view. Given the heat, it was lovely to sit on the balcony during the evening hours enjoying a glass of wine and the view. One thing that wasn't great was the fact that the power, including air conditioning, only worked when we inserted our key card. Returning after a long day sightseeing to a hot room was less than pleasant and it did mean that we couldn't go to bed right away since we needed to wait for the room to cool down. However, despite that we still loved the room and found the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. The location was great - not far from the train station or the beach, yet quiet in the evenings so we could sleep.
“Go with a comfort room”
The hallways of the hotel are extremely narrow and the surrounding area of the baseboards looks beaten up and in need of repair. Overall the hotel did not look new or modern or renovated. Some positive things about the hotel were the front desk staff, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The lounge looks more modern and nice atmosphere if you like to spend your nights in, but people may wonder why you are staying in which is completely your decision and no one elses. Was please to find a small fridge - no minibar - to store breakfast supplies. Comfort rooms (perhaps not all) are superior to the higher price privilege because there is one bed instead of two put together, and there is also a small balcony and a huge bathroom. The privilege is superior in that it has a huge chandelier in the middle of the room but it is not cozy at all. I'd rather have a huge bathroom than a huge room. Both rooms have fridges. Free Wifi was awesome! If you plan to walk around the city every day of your trip, I recommend La Malmaison. If you are like me, searching for a hotel room that would resemble home and would look modern and feel cozy then I cannot recommend it. My room did not feel cozy at all, which is why I asked to get downgraded to a room I originally paid for.
“What more do you need!”
La Malmaison was a small comfortable, clean and cheery hotel in the most amazing location. In the middle of everywhere. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely little hotel. For the price I dont think you could have wished for more. A wonderful bathroom with all the facilities and a fridge in the room.
“elegant spot”
I've chosen this hotel because I liked the place. Victor Gugo Blv. is one of my favorite streets in Nice. The service turned out to be good as well. My check in was really fast, I only had to sign the form. It's a nice place and it's close to everything.
