“Good value”

I stayed at this hotel 3 nights. It is located on a side street near the train station about 20 minutes walk from the Old Town and 15 minutes walk from the Promenade des Anglais. It was clean and quiet. The staff was very pleasant. My only complaint was that the single beds were uncomfortable.

“Quiet Quality”

Very helpful management. Bi-lingual: willing to practice French with you or give explicit directions in English. Easy location to train station for short excursions along shore. We were very pleased.

“convenient for train and plane”

This hotel was very convenient to the train station and the airport since you can catch a shuttle a $3Eu shuttle to the airport running every 30 minutes from the train station. It is about 3 short blocks from the train station. This is the musicians area of Nice. We didn't get to see much of Nice due to train delays ( a French rail strike ). The room was very clean and quiet. The room faced an interior courtyard.

“Served its purpose”

We were looking for a moderately priced place to stay for our overnight visit in Nice. It was conveniently close to train station and not too far from the beach. Twin beds were a bit narrow and shower wasn't too spacious but it served its purpose. We had to check out before we were done sightseeing but they held our luggage for us. Front desk was very nice.

“Worth for the money you are paying!”

Stayed for 2 nights in this hotel... and it was pretty good for the money I paid... best is the proximity from train station.

“Good value for hotel in Nice”

Typical European hotel room (small) but it was clean and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. the hotel is only a few blocks easy walk from the central train station. A cab to the airport at 35E a bit steep for a few kilometer drive. But there is a bus (at the train station)to the airport that is affordable but not available for early morning flights. The only drawback to the hotel is that it is a 15 minute walk through the back streets to get to the main dining area and the beaches. But while the streets are small and dark it seemed to be a safe walk even very late at night. The hotel is an excellent value for a place to stay in Nice if you don't plan to spend your time in the hotel.

“Pay more & stay elsewhere.”

The woman at the front desk was very helpful when we arrived and at other times as well. The hotel is not in a great location. The only restaurant nearby (which the hotel recommends) is Sunfish Cafe - don't bother. The service & food for terrible and a waste of money. Our hotel room was tiny and the windows faced an apartment building with laundry hanging on railings, etc. The shower doors had mold on them and the shower head was broken off from the support; the only way to use the shower head was to hand hold it. Breakfast is served at $10 euros per person; you'll get a better deal by stopping at a bakery in town. I would highly recommend spending more and staying in a 4+ star hotel! It's well worth it.

“This must be one of the worst hotels available in Nice.”

When I read the review of the hotel, it seemed a good value hotel option as we were only staying one night. With hindsight I wished that I had booked a hotel closer to the "Old Town" as the Medicis is a 15 minute walk from any of the decent restaurants and sights. The main concern with the hotel was that the rooms were dark and small, with one having a peculiar smell and the other room had a peeling ceiling and a blocked sink. I definitely wouldn't have wanted to spend more than one night there.

“Dreadful Hotel”

The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful but this is the only good thing about this awful hotel. The room was never cleaned properly, dirty towels simply hungup again, bed sheets never changed and we were given a pillow with some very unpleasant stains on it from a previous guest. The bed was uncomfortable and the room was small and stuffy with the television never working properly. Overall the hotel was simply dreadful and I would not even accept a free stay there. We tried the restaurant next door as recommended but the food was dreadful as well and it was no suprise that we were the only ones there on a Friday night which should have been busy. Although the hotel is very well located near the station, there are at least half a dozen more in the same area which all seemed much better. Stay there at your peril.
