“1 st time to nice was very happy with hotel .we don't speach a word of frence but had no problem”

very pleasant staff, extremely clean,a/c system not up to 100% effective, hot water at the turn of the tap,morning buffet was more then we could handle, axcess to the main area & water fron less then 10 minute walk. at nite traffic noise was there but went down by 1:00am, early am there was garbage trucks doing there thing which in turn was noisey, & the street cleaners were out ever am around 5:30 - 7:00 am with the same thing. but over all we were extremely very pleased with it all & will be returning next Aug.[2012] but for 4- 6 weeks.

Area recommendations
1 st. time there so we took in as much as possible & 1 day paid excurrion trip which a nice outting going to places that we did not read about, had a great driver explaining things as he drove & taking our photos with us in it [he took some great pic of the area with us in then] he took to area where world wide known people have vacation homes [movie stars singers etc.] ship area with all the great stuff. 1 of the best vacation we had in abite.[ we travel about 6 times a year for 7- 10 day a trip both self employed hard to go away for more then that until next year when we both sale of our buissness]

“Great location, good service”

We were overall very satisfied with this hotel. It was small enough to be personable, but large enough to accomodate our needs. The room was small, but sufficient and comparable to what one can expect in Europe. The room was clean and airy. Small television in a corner niche, but we weren't there to watch TV. The desk staff were very helpful and provided excellent recommendations for dinner. There was a mishap with the shuttle service that the staff reserved for us, but they were able to get us a taxi that only ended up costing 2 euros more than the shuttle would have been. We had allowed ample time to get to the airport (15 min drive) so it worked out fine. The hot coffee and pastries in the lobby in the evening was a nice touch. We did not not take advantage of the onsite breakfast and chose a lighter fare at nearby cafes.

Area recommendations
Staying near the old town was convenient and made everything within walking distance, including restaurants, shopping, and the beach/promenade. Not being right in the heart of old town allowed for a quiet room to retire to after the day of activities.There was an active night life which was fun to watch in old town. The public transit (tram,bus, and train) made getting around town and to outlying areas (Monocco, Monte Carlo, etc) easy and affordable. Only one euro each way to ride the bus to or from Monocco and less than 4 euro each way on the train.
What to pack
Two items that I took for our mid September/early October trip to France (Paris, Provence, French Riviera) that proved to be very useful were an all-weather reversible 3/4 length jacket, and a mid-weight multi colored woven scarf. We limited our luggage to a carryon for a 2 1/2 week stay. Not knowing what to expect for the weather, the jacket (with layering) provided just enough warmth, rain protection, and sun protection and was lighweight for carrying or tying around the waist when not needed. Being reversible (navy/khaki) and with clean lines meant I could wear it as an outside or inside jacket. The scarf was a long oblong and about 18" wide. I used it almost every day as a scarf, both for warmth, or to cover the head in the rain or wind (the Mistral brought high winds), as an accessory, and as a shawl in chilly restaurants. When not needed it tied easily on my shoulder bag. Also determined that you can get by with less and it is unlikely you are going to see the same people every day that will know how many times you've worn that same pair of slacks.
