“Ideal location”

The best thing about this hotel is the location - sea views, a few steps from the beach, a lovely park opposite and the drop off for the airport bus is outside the hotel. The market and old part of Nice are within 2 minutes walk too. The hotel is a bit 'tired' and the bathroom was a bit old, the reception and stairs in hotel a bit worn, but there was good doubleglazing in room so it cut out traffic noise. The biggest down side was that we were on the first floor of the hotel, which is above a bar. This played music until early hours of the morning and kept us awake, even ear plugs didn't help. So on a return trip I would ask for a room on a higher floor. I am sure there are a lot of hotels in Nice in better condition, but this is such a good location you can forgive the tired condition a little. Room had large LCD television, hairdryer, fridge, blackout curtains and large wardrobe, and ofcourse air conditioning which was essential.

Area recommendations
You must visit the old cemeteries as they are breathtaking - very extravagant and on the hillside looking out over the city. Take the local buses to Eze village, Monaco or Cannes for only 1 euro each way, they are frequent and punctual.

“Great place”

Great hotel in an excellent location. The beach, promande and nightlife are all 2 minutes away. The view from our room was magnifcent. We were overlooking the park and the sea. I couldn't tell you about breakfast because I didnt pay for 12 Euro for it.

Outdoors or beach
If you would like a good spot on the private beaches, make sure you reserve it the night before.

“not so great except the location”

The location is great, however, anything else is old and outdated from the antiqued door lock to the hanging 12" CRT TV to the furniture.

Area recommendations
Since we rented a car, we would have been better off staying in a more updated hotel in the same budget range near the airport which is less than 5-10 miles away.

“Superb location overlooking the sea, an old fashioned hotel with character !”

Though a bit pricey, (we stayed during Cannes FF and Monaco GP week) we found the hotel very comfortable. We did arrive with some trepidation based on previous other reviews, but were pleasantly surprised ! Our room (411) had been recently repainted. The hotel is old, the passenger lift is amazing, but clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was adequate and the restaurant never overcrowded.

Area recommendations
The old town of Nice is superb ! The best location for dining !
Getting there
Catch the 98 bus from the airport, it stops outside the hotel ! 4 euros per person ! Taxi fares are expensive.
Must see
Menton and Menton-Garavan, east of Monte Carlo, easily to get to by train from Nice Ville. Monte Carlo and Cannes are also a must to visit, by train. Do NOT go to Villemille (Ventimiglia) at the eastern terminus of the local railway in Italy, its an overpriced dump !!

“Nice's Filthy Hostel For Drunken Children”

The hotel was filthy and run-down. The desk clerk almost growled at me when I offered my credit card for incidentals. The majority of the guests were under-age drunken children. Definitely one of the worst hotels I have stayed in and completely over-priced. How it maintains its star rating is a mystery. It should be removed from Expedia.

“Not impressed”

I would describe the room as functional and dated. The staff were very friendly and helpful with our every need. Hard to complain too much for the rates paid per night. I would say in a nutshell that the hotel is in need of some modernisation.

“Good hotel at a reasonable price in a great location”

Stayed here for a romatic valentine's weekend with my husband. I had previously stayed at the grand Le Meridien hotel opposite and can safely say that Albert Premier was extremely good value for money as it cost much less and was not that inferior to Le Meridien. It was also in the same central location that is close to markets, restaurant, the ocean, tourist hot spots. As it happened, the weekend we were there was also the weekend of the carnival and again, Albert's location was extremely prime as the parade ran through the street outside the hotel. There were several theme park equipment setup in the public gardens just outside for the carnival and the Albert offered premium views of these as well as the sea. Would I stay here again? Absolutely yes - for the price and the location.

Traveller's tip
Le Tire Bouchon - a bit pricey but the food is exquisite

Ci ritorneremo!
