“WHAT A VIEW...WHAT A BARGAIN!”

My wife and I recently chose to stay overnight at this hotel prior to our flight to Florida out of Niagara Falls NY. International Airport. We chose The Oakes for several reasons. That being...proximity to the border, reasonable rates, their advertised view overlooking the "falls" and their proximity to the Fallsview Casino (a short 10 minute walk). 5 stars on all counts! The view was oustanding from our 14th. floor "fallsview" room. The front desk staff were pleasant and efficient and our internet discounted rate (which included wine sampling coupons) was unbeatable. We also took advantage of their optional couple dinner package which included a delicious dinner for two at Remingtons of Niagara (shuttlebus to downtown), breakfast for two at Applebees (ajacent to the hotel) + free wifi. The perfect start to a two week vacation to celebrate my wife's retirement and my 60th. birthday. We will definately return.

“Super View”

Clean, quiet and great location. Loved sitting at the window watching the falls and surrounding area.

“Not what it seems in the ads”

Room was small and beds were not comfortable. Not to mention there is only a jaccuzi tub ( not a jaccuzi as indicated ) Wi-Fi was not free in fact they wantred $10 for that & they charge another $10 per day for parking, You do not even get a fridge in your room? Location was good and view of the falls was good also. Not at all the room I would have picked to take my girlfriend away for a romantic weekend

“Good hotel with so-so falls view”

No problems with service, cleanliness, etc. Had a large room with two queen beds. All was clean. Room was on the 8th floor, with view of the falls. However, there were a couple trees in the way of the view. What we did see was great, including the light show (changing colors) on the falls. Wish that there was an unobstructed view and breakfast included. Would definitely return, though.

“Would go back again!”

The hotel was very nice - staff very polite, room very clean and the view was awesome! I think I would prefer to NOT be across the hall from the ice machine as it was in use LONG after my bedtime and a bit noisey...maybe put a door on it? Other than that very nice! FYI - avoid Applebees for breakfast - crazy expensive for what you get!

“AMAZING view, OK room”

I'm not sure you can beat the view offered from this hotel. We stayed on the 11th floor facing the falls and had a spectacular view of both falls and Buffalo, NY. I would go back again just because the view was amazing. The room was just OK... very reminiscent of a Days Inn/Red Roof Inn/Motel 6 type of room. The price was decent based on the convenience of the location and the view of the falls. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and the majority of them are attached to other hotels. The casino is also close by. Beware: food was expensive! Bring lots of money. Parking was $15/day and is very limited. I think there may be cheaper parking within walking distance of this hotel. If you leave at night, you may have trouble finding a place when you return.

“Great Hotel”

check in was fast, however we got 2 different stories about leaving a cash deposit which was strange. they were pleasant and helpful,also located next to applebees restaurant. copabana restaurant across the street for buffet..but kind of expensive. will not go to hard rock cafe in niagra again..way too expensive. great view of the falls from our room. clean and comfortable...but they can spend a bit more on new blankets/sheets. parking at the back..but we had to climb a few stairs with our luggage..that we didnt like.overall great hotel.

“The best view ever”

The hotel is named "The Oakes overlooking the Falls" and it sure lives up to it's name! I was the first in the door and said to my husband "you are not going to believe this view"! We could sit in front of the huge window and see both American and Canadian Falls as well as a full view of the river, across to the American side and at night the lights were awesome. On Friday night we watched the fireworks from the comfort of our room. One of the few times we did not want to leave our room! The room was quite large and clean. The bathroom lighting could have been better but not a major deal for us. Housekeeping did not show up till 3 pm Sat. afternoon and we just happend to come back to the room for a bit. She apologized and all we needed was our bed made and clean towels. No big deal for us. Front desk was pleasant and answered our questions. They gladly printed our boarding passes for us on Sat. Would definitely go back! Food was very expensive as all reviewers will tell you. We solved that problem by eating a large breakfast and light dinner. If you have a car be sure to drive on the Niagara Parkway or you will miss some beautifu scenery. Niagara on the Lake town is a short drive and had some great cafes...also Kurtz Orchards on the parkway is awesome...we had chili, bread and pastries there and it was delicious. Can't wait to go back to Oakes!

“Very nice for the money on the upper floors”

i stayed in a fallsview suite on the 20th floor, and was very satisfied with everything the hotel had to offer. the room was good sized, with a separate sitting area. No problems with cleanliness or comfort. Hot shower with plenty of pressure. The jacuzzi tub was small for a 300 lb man, so I didn't try it. View of the falls was spectacular. No bar, restaurant or room service, but it's right next to an Applebee's, the most expensive one ever. Also a block away from a very nice casino and shops area. I will stay there again again if I'm in the area. Staff was accommodating and attentive, and actually printed my boarding pass for free. One drawback... the TV service wasn't too great, with tube TV's and spotty reception on some channels. $15/day parking, but no resort fee.
