"Perfect location"
Very enjoyable stay. Offered choice of rooms when we arrived with no extra charge and the cakes provided were a really nice touch. Andy and Emma couldn't have been more friendlier and they have done an excellent job on the decoration of the guest house, the attention to detail and providing a nice airy spacious feel to the place. Sat out on the decking in the early evening, looking over Porth beach, sun still shining... what more could you ask for. Breakfast was great too, lots of choices available. Best guest house we have stayed in and would definately return there in the future

"Great hotel with beautiful views of the sea"
We booked as a last minute hotel as most of the hotels were already booked. Stayed with a family one night at the weekend in May 14. And I can say it was a bit pricey but worth the stay. The hotel is literally the last building in town. So it's a very quiet area. It sits on the cliff side and it's got a beautiful view in to the sea with a bit of Newquay scenery. Inside there is a spa centre and an indoor swimming pools for adults and the little ones, steam room. All the surrounding s looked really clean and looked after. There's plenty of things to do for little ones. Unfortunately we weren't able to explore all of it due to late check in and a very early check out. I think it's a downside to have to check out at 10.30am. The rooms were really spacious! We stayed in the family room. We could have had another 3 kids or two adults able to spend the night with extra beds we had in the room. Breakfast was great with lots of food to choose from. There is a restaurant at the hotel but we were not able to have the evening meal there as we arrived just before 9 pm which was too late to order any meals. I guess it's a downside that the food orders are taken only to 8.45 pm. Especially if you arrive from quite far away and check in late it would be nice to have a meal at your hotel and you wouldn't have to think where in town to find a place to have dinner. Other than that it I can strongly recommend this hotel especially if you are planning to stay there with little ones.

"Excellent Port Veor Manor"
Excellent hotel with views of the Porth Bay, well located for commuting to other areas of Cornwall. Good value for money and heated outdoor pool is a nice touch. Well maintained property and gardens. The holiday was so good, the only minor things I could comment on are the stairs to the second floor, and the wardrobe doors didn't close properly, but not really a complaint. I would have rated the hotel 4 stars and would definitely recommend

"Very clean, tentative and helpful staff"
Lady on check in was extremely helpful and welcoming. Some hotels are more modern and swanky but you'll be pressed to find a cleaner tidier one. Great games room and reasonable bar. Breakfast and eating dining facilities were great. Definitely recommend and use again.

"Friendly, close to beach and excellent breakfasts!"
We stayed at Porth Lodge this summer on a last minute trip to Cornwall, we hadn't visited before but thought that a hotel close to but a bit removed from Newquay would be a great base to start from. We didn't expect Porth beach itself to be such a beautiful spot, or for the hotel to be such a find! Our room was great, not huge but it had space to move around and everything we needed. The walls weren't the thickest but the atmosphere of the hotel is very family friendly, so a bit of background noise didn't bother us at all. There was parking where it was always easy to find a space too. As mentioned in the title, our favourite bit of the stay was their breakfasts, properly fantastic! We're vegan and they were very accommodating, meaning we still had a four course breakfast of cereal, a fruit salad with love and attention gone into it, fried english breakfast of veggie sausages, fried bread, grilled tomatoes, beans and mushrooms, along with toast and a selection of spreads. It was delicious! The staff were friendly and informative about the local area, with maps and information to hand. As mentioned, Porth beach is also a great spot with a huge sandy beach even at high tide. It's also a ten minute walk to Lusty Glaze beach, from which you can walk all along the sand to Newquay in about 40 minutes, exploring coves along the way. All in all we were thrilled with our stay and would definitely go back!

    Pocket Guide: Newquay

Whether you’re a surfer or a clubber, a sun worshipper or a stag partier, an early bird or a night owl, there are hotels in Newquay to make everyone feel at home 24/7. So if 5-star hotels are out of your price range and 4-star hotels aren’t your bag, check out the other options in Newquay hotels to suit your style and please your pocket.

Most visitors to Newquay come for the beach – after all, it’s one of the most dramatic stretches of coastline in north Cornwall, with its wide rolling seas, long sandy beaches and secluded coves. Life in the surf capital of the UK revolves around the world-famous Fistral Beach, which hosts many international surfing competitions thanks to its powerful waves and good swell. One of the most prestigious is the annual Relentless Boardmasters Festival, which is held in conjunction with a music festival at nearby Watergate Bay. Book early if you want to make sure of a room in one of the town’s friendly boutique hotels during this hugely popular event.

The laid-back surfing vibe can be infectious, but if riding the wave doesn’t float your boat, why not try a spot of golf? Newquay Golf Club is one of the finest in the area, with awe-inspiring views over the Atlantic Ocean and some demanding holes, while Treloy Golf Club, designed by Bob Sandow and opened in 1991, is the first course in Cornwall to feature American-style sculptured greens to test the most experienced player.

If it’s too cold to take the plunge, pay a visit to the Blue Reef Aquarium on Towan Beach, where you can make friends with the local marine life in the underwater tunnel, get up close and personal with hundreds of tropical species in the ocean display, and watch feeding time for piranhas and sharks. If that hasn’t put you off your food, head into town to check out the wide range of delicious seafood restaurants hugging the picturesque harbour. Finish your day in time-honoured fashion by sinking into blissful comfort in one of the town’s luxury hotels, or snuggle up to your beach boy in one of the romantic hotels overlooking the ocean and dream of that perfect wave…
