“Convenient and reasonable”
While visiting colleges with my son, I stayed overnight at the Omni (I stay at hotels an average of 150 nights a year). The hotel is a good value for the money: clean, comfortable, good bed and pillows, some nice amenities in the bathroom. Nothing over the top, but also nothing negative to note. Staff was very friendly. The location is a bit off the main drag, but that probably also helps keep things quieter. Free Wi-Fi was a welcome touch.
“Fair”
Not great. Even for cheap rate I got
“There are better choices in Newport News!”
The hotel room was dim, stuffy and the beds were extremely old and uncomfortable. We travel to the area frequently and will not stay here again!
“Looks brand new”
Hotel quality is great. I didn't use the dining facilities. The hotel had very few customers on a Sunday night. I am not sure why. The hotel was a bargain for the high quality facilities.
“Okay for two nights”
Pros-The room itself was nice. Check-in was friendly and quick. Cons-The sheet on one of the beds had a tear in it and the comforter had a small stain. The bathtub could have used a good bleaching.
“A nice place to wait out Irene”
Had a romantic getaway planned which was rudely interrupted by hurricane Irene. We spent most of the weekend in the hotel which was nice as the pool is indoors and there is a restaurant on site. The bedding in our first room was not clean, but staff were prompt in taking care of the issue. Due to damp carpet outside the room (and loud noise from dryer) we requested a room change and were very happy with our second room. Overall, not quite what we expected with a "luxury hotel" but an enjoyable experience. I would recommend the hotel at a reduced rate like that we found.
“Excellent”
I felt like a VIP. You have a wonderful staff. This hotel made my business trip feel like a vacation.
“Needs Updating”
The staff was nice but the hotel room was not. The weather was hot and very humid while we were there and it definitely affected the room. It smelled dank in there. The wall paper was peeling and moldy by the windows. The tv armoir was cracked and beat up. The sheets had some small stains on them. The air conditioning unit was old and loud. This hotel could be very nice but it definitely needs upgrading. We chose this hotel because most of the reviews were positive and they had discounted rates on Expedia. If I had known all that I do now, I would have stayed somewhere else for a little more money.
“Would never go back”
Hotel is situated in the 1980's. It is not clean and has little security.
“Better than expected”
My wife and I normally stay at Hyatt, Hilton, Whyndam, etc, and have never stayed at the Omni and I must say, it was a pleasure. We arrived early and my wife got sick and we need an early check in, and without hesitation, we were checked in. We had an issue with the fridge in our room, in 5min, it was taken care of. The staff was great and they never had an issue about anything we needed. It was the best treatment we have ever had a major hotel and we will be going back. It was the most friendliest hotel we have ever stayed at. Koodos to the staff and management.
