“OK for the price, but well used, needs refurbishing.”
Perhaps there was a family special on for the bank holiday, but the place was overrun with families and children running about. The front desk was great, but there was only one person working there both days. Our first room was what we had booked, but unusable due to broken window and other problems. They did a nice job moving us to another room. Both rooms were tired, not overly clean and the furniture was older and carpets stained. Rooms good sized and nice shower, although the bathrooms also were well used and just barely clean enough. Bed mattresses could use replacing. However, for the price I wasn't expecting the Ritz either! They seem to have many amenities that would appeal to families and are certainly child friendly. Food acceptable, it is carvery style (or in US words, an order counter, and they deliver the food to your table) not even near exceptional. Entertainment on a Friday night was USA country western - not what I would have thought! Everyone was nice and relaxed, very mellow scene. Don't stay here if you cannot walk long distances as the hotel is spread out, elevator very far from front desk. Location is right off the M18 exit, very convenient for a quick night stay before heading to Shannon airport.
