“Impressive!”
Booked this hotel to visit daughter at uni...had everything we needed in kitchenette to have dinner in on one night. Well thought out design! Defintely will stay there again!
“An excellent place to stay”
This is a great place to stay and when next in Newcastle will try to stay again. The staff were very helpful and the room we stayed in comfortable, very clean and well-equipped. The self-serve breakfast was very good and there was plenty of off-street parking though there is a charge. The hotel is surrounded by student halls of residence and other blocks of flats but very quiet. It is about a 10-15 min walk to the city centre and much less to the quayside.
“will go back”
The only complaint if any would be some more hooks in the bathroom.
“Forget the breakfast - it's a free for all!”
Our experience of this hotel was completely ruined by the farce that was breakfast. What is described as a 'buffet breakfast' is actually a free for all. There is limited seating and between 9.30am and 10am on the Sunday morning, everyone turned up to eat at once. There were no plates or cutlery - the amount of people meant that plates were being used quicker than they could be cleaned - as as soon as any food appeared, it went. There were no staff managing seating, so people were sitting where they could (and even standing in some cases) to eat their food. The nearest thing I can liken it to was emergency Red Cross food distribution following a disaster. When we complained, we were just told 'tough' basically, and that it wasn't the hotel's fault that everyone turns up together for breakfast. They said they didn't have enough staff to clear tables, prepare food, wash crockery as quickly as they were needed. My view is, given the rates they charge, a few extra staff on the breakfast rota wouldn't go amiss. The Staybridge Suites are advertised as being by the riverside, which they are. What it doesn't mention though, is that it's set back about quarter of a mile from the riverside in the middle of a council estate. I'd recommend anywhere rather than this shambles of a place. There are loads of hotels which are all located nearer to the centre and will be considerably cheaper, and they'll no doubt provide a less traumatic breakfast experience!
“Excellent Newcastle UK hotel”
Always stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Newcastle before but they didn't have availability for this trip so went with the Staybridge (as they are also part of the Priority Club group) and will be going there for all future visits! Terrific suite, kitchen I would love to have in my own apartment, good use of space plus complementary breakfast, laundry room and gym, and a small shop for any other food items, etc. you might want. They also accept restaurant deliveries for you, and supermarket deliveries which they will even put in your fridge if you are not there. I think they get quite a few people staying with them for extended periods as well as three day stays like mine. The best budget hotel I have ever stayed at anywhere in the world. (At the moment the only other one they have in the UK is in Liverpool.)
“Great Appartments”
Fantastic Apartments.... very clean & spacious with all the facilities you will need. Central for the Quayside & would definitely recommend.
“That Best that can't be Matched by the Rest”
This hotel is hard to match for value for money and first class staff and accommodation and the coffee machine is fanatanstic with free lattes and expressos 24/7.
“Excellent value, one of the best in the U.K.”
I was very happy with this hotel. I stayed for nearly a week to attend a nearby academic conference. The special rate that I booked ahead of time was a bargain, and the value for money was one of the best I have found in the U.K. The hotel was comfortable, rooms were not cramped, and everyone was helpful and courteous. One day I looked for a newspaper to read at breakfast, and the manager on duty suggested I sit down while he stepped out to purchase several for the guests. In the evenings, the hotel offered complimentary wine and cheese. The hotel is not on the river, but still not too far to walk to most destinations; there is also public transportation. Highly recommended!
“Excellent hotel to stay in when visiting Newcastle”
This is by far one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a city break. Staff were friendly , helpful and efficient. Our rooms were excellent. Fisrt tinme I have stayed in a hotel where you also have a kitched area and found it to be extremely useful. Everything was like new and very clean - would definitely stay here again - just 2 minute walk from the door down to the quayside for a nice walk and 10 minutes walk from city center.
“good place to stay!”
