“Great location”

We had a lovely big room with a view of the Millennium Bridge (paid extra for it). Bar very good for cocktails with our friends. Only downside is that the interior of the hotel from reception upwards is painted in a dark purple which we found oppressive but room was light. Maybe this is a characteristic of the Malmaison chain?

Area recommendations
Newcastle/Gateshead Quayside area great for hotels, bars, Sage theatre and Baltic art gallery. Newcastle great for shopping and the Georgian architecture is splendid

“Pricey carrots!!!”

This was our second visit to this hotel, having visited it originally not long after it had first opened and we were pleased to see it had maintained its sumptuous looks without too much fraying around the edges. We had booked a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the Millenium bridge, a great view but you do get some noise from the bars on the riverside. It is a good hotel in a great location and we found the staff were friendly and helpful - the only suggestion I would make is to eat elsewhere rather than in the hotel brasserie. The food is reasonable but it fails to live up to the prices that they charge for it, and beware the side dishes, what you get is not a lot, for quite a lot!!

great location , good staff, booked in to spa and was told to use sauna before treatment got there an hour early for sauna, sauna was full for next 2 1/2 hours so told to go away and come back for treatment at the appointment time.upset because was a birthday treat. BEDS ROCK HARD could not sleep first night springs felt ! got staff to bring pillows to line bed ,and they also surgested an extra duvette to pad out bed, they made it up for me[ very princess and the pea] i slept well that night.we had a queen bed room 604 tyne bridge view from the side any lower we would look into office block.all the front bed rooms looking over the tyne and the quayside very pretty. all floors at the front have good views. good bus link to town 2 mins away or 10 min walk up hill better to walk back to hotel nice walk. cafe on corner next to traffic junction towards tyne bridge good coffee etc for breakfast. lots of pubs/resturants next to hotel . SUNDAY MARKET on quayside very nice and worth a stroll along.
