We always enjoy our stays here...

Posted 12-Apr-2015
Pros: Foyer impressive. Staff pleasant and respond appropriately to concerns. Comfortable room with good view. Important to have a bath provided.
Cons: Clean the windows. Provide hot plates and keep breakfast bar food much hotter. Provide free WI-fi in rooms. Reduce parking charge.
Location: Leave your car in the car park. See the Sage and the Baltic nearby. Shop at the Metro Centre. Visit the Hancock museum and Laing art gallery.
We always enjoy our stays here. The staff are pleasant and professional. The Tyne views are exceptional. We are moderately fit and walked in to Newcastle and back quite easily. Room is comfortable. We took advantage of an offer for free in- room wi-fi for Hilton members and would appreciate this as standard in future. The car park is quite expensive but worth it, as it is quite possible to travel by bus for the whole of the stay. Our breakfast was a disappointment, but the staff responded appropriately to our justifiable complaints.

Great Hotel with great view

Posted 18-Feb-2015
This was a lovely hotel, great location and good service. Everything you would expect from a Hilton. Good buffet breakfast with lots of choice, did not use the restaurant as it was fully booked, but it had lovely views of the Tyne bridge.

Not up to its usual standard

We have stayed a the Hilton several times visiting as our daughters who have been students at newcastle university. Our stay has normally been good. Our latest overnight stay was last weekend. We unfortunately had a problem with the en suite facilities. There were deposits of something black visible in the bath water and also in the shower. We reported this to the concierge who appeared promptly to check. However, although the black gradually got better, it did not disappear completely and we were unable to use the enquire facilities to get ready for going out that evening. The concierge was going to ask someone to call up the our room to discuss further. This didn't happen in time for us to go out that evening. We did not have time to be moved to another room and I asked for it to be noted for our departure the following morning. It was explained that there had been a power cut a few days before hand and this had caused some issues which were being investigated. I understand that this was perhaps an unavoidable issue but there was no explanation as to what was in the water and what they would be doing to balance up the inconvience to us. The cost of the stay was not cheap. I was given a credit on my car park ticket but I feel we should have been given a credit against our next stay at the hotel. I shall be writing to the hilton head office. It is a shame because it has been somewhere we have always found good.
