This property has a lovely view of you have a waterfront suite and the staff were fantastic in particular a check in man Adam was brilliant he also helped me find accommodation at another Rydges and his front desk service was second to none The rooms however were dated with pooquality towels and furnishing for around $300 a night I thought it a rip to charge $35 a night for hotel parking

We had a king harbourside suite. Very spacious, good climate control, quiet. Close to a nice set of harbourside restaurants with lots of dining choice. Room WiFi (3 device max.) more or less OK for single device streaming (12-18mps). Room had bar fridge mostly stocked with for sale products but with small amount of room left. Check out time 11am is generous (by Australian standards). One block from tram (2 stops along tram from train station at Newcastle Interchange). Harbour view was pleasant. Nice outdoor pool.

Great spot! Travelled with our kids and everything was safe, clean, wonderful, very nice and the pool was a lot of fun! Beautiful 10/10 spot. Would definitely stay here again.

Hotel location was great and the little ones enjoyed the pool and slide very much. Breakfast was good in the morning. However, our room was not as clean as we would have expected, not a deal breaker, but the reason for the one star was a non working air conditioning in our room. Despite asking assistance in the front counter and ringing later when still was not working, we never got a solution and had to the spend the night it what it felt like a sauna. This is a basic expectation and it was not met.

Great location .... thats about it
Great views of the harbour, great walking along the foreshore, a quick easy walk into to town or to restaurants and bars BUT. Ive stayed in this place for years, even when it was run by a different operator. Very little has ever been updated or renovated and its very very tired. Apart from that its great.

Didnt like parking around the streets. Valet was available but i wanted to use and access the vehicle regularly. QR menu for in-room dining was different to the choices when ordering. Great place , clean and comfortable.

Our 2 nights stay at the Rydges was lovely, although the room is very small. The location and proximity to the wharf, restaurants, beautiful views and comfortable surrounds were highlights. The room was clean and comfortable and the pool with slide was a draw card for our children. The sofa bed mattress was well used and probably needs to be replaced soon.

The fold out lounge had no sheets, mattress was stained and dirt. The blankets in cupboard were dirty, smelly and covered in dust. Rooms need to be updated and modernised.

Great room, views were far better than expected- lifts are fast & always around, staff were great- better selection at the 350 bar & rest. for food & decenty cocktails would be a potential improvement - hotel itself was great & the room intro book to the area /hotel history fantastic!! Thank you :D

We booked the king suite with harbour view with balcony. On entering the room we noticed vomit all over the balcony so I called reception and they apologised and said they were upgrading us to the king spa suite. The king spa suite was dirty, the balcony was so small you could only just stand on it, the dining suite only had 1 chair so only one of us could sit at the table, the bathroom towels were placed on a towel rack high on the wall in the centre of the spa which meant you had to climb in the spa to reach a towel, that also meant the cleaners had to climb in the spa to place the towels in the rack. There was no steps to climb into the spa which was incredibly difficult as I am 152cm tall and to make matters worse you have to climb into the spa to take a shower which is incredibly dangerous trying to get in and out when wet. There was absolutely no utensils in the kitchen, what is the point of have a kitchen with no dishes or cutlery. The coffee cups and coffee was on the bottom of the cupboard under the kitchen sink. The fridge was filthy. There was no compendium or prices for the mini bar. We paid $250 per night for our suite which was better than the upgraded suite which was $418p and $35 on parking ( luckily we had free parking directly in front of motel). I would never recommend the Rydges motel at Newcastle because you are only paying for the name

The tiny balcony couldn’t even accommodate a chair and your paying an $100 a night for the privilege of something that’s unusable

Parking was on the street, so trying to figure out extended times was difficult. Otherwise, the pool and waterslide were a huge hit with the kiddos. The room was pretty clean and options to eat near by were great. The beach was close and was wonderful to visit, but staying longer than a couple days would have been difficult if you have your own vehicle.

We enjoyed the harbor views and activities which is why we returned for my wife's birthday treat, she turned eighty. we did not like the bed which was vey hard or the skin irritations similar to mossie bites.
