“It was Okay”
We were told that we could check in early and that there would be a room reserved for us once we arrived around 8:30am from a very long travel/flight. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were told we were not allowed to check in until 3:00! The staff at the hotel were rather rude about it as well, ignoring me when I explained what I was told. We left our luggage in a storage room provided by them, but I felt uneasy leaving my expensive valuables there and did not want to carry them around with me in Manhattan (where we planned to go), so we decided to wait at the hotel - along with about 10 other people in the same predicament. There were not enough seating to wait inside the hotel, so was forced to go to the connecting "mall" and it is rather sketchy. Full of homeless people begging for money and sleeping at the tables. We did not have a good experience on our first day. The room was nice, but the bathroom was filthy. When I mentioned it to the housekeeper in the morning, it was not cleaned when we returned from the city. Was forced to clean the hairs and urine on and surrounding the toilet myself. I am part owner of a hotel, so my standards may be different, but I was not overly impressed. The restaurant was nothing special and the prices higher than what we paid in Manhattan for better meals. Location and shuttle were convenient though! And close to prudential center! Overall, not the quality I have come to expect from Hilton. I would not stay here again.
“Relatively cheap compared to staying in NYC and easy access to Newark Penn Station”
Positives Cheaper than staying in NYC Easy access to Newark Penn Station (no need to walk the streets to get to the station) $5 for a single train ticket into new York (25 mins, stops only once before reaching NYC) Negatives Not much to do around the hotel Neighbourhood doesn't feel safe, taxis outside Newark Penn Station late at night leave their meters turned off (I.e after 11pm) and therefore charge their own fares. Taxis from Hilton are not readily available, they are booked by bell boy upon request. No free parking for quests- $21 per day Rooms do not let enough light into the room
“Next Best Thing to New York”
because it's a high quality hotel for a good price and accessible to NYC via Penn Station. This hotel is clean, business oriented but also a nice hotel for tourists. The staff was amicable and the customer service was very good. Our rooms were restocked every day and everyone went out of their way to be helpful. We were very satisfied with the service and the quality.
“Will book in the future. Friendly staff. Close to NYC by NJ Transit”
Complimentay shuttle service to and from Newark-Liberty International Airport. Friendly staff. A short, inexpensive, easy access train ride into NYC. I will use this location for future bookings.
“Perfect location for hockey games and to visit NYC”
Convenient location to The Prudential Centre, NYC via train, airport and Jersey Gardens outlet mall. The hotel was clean and staff friendly. Next time, however, we will ask for a room on a higher floor (we were on the third). There was an AC unit outside our window and a lot of traffic noise. Free shuttle to airport was handy to catch our 8 am flight (took less than 20 minutes). Down sides were - pay for internet access, no free breakfast - restaurant off lobby $$ breakfast buffet. To be fair the food was fine.
“It is what it is”
There are two good reasons to stay at this hotel: The business professional is served well by the surrounding financial district, much of it accessible via skywalk tubes. And a traveler doing the New York area for the first or second time will find this to be an excellent launching pad for journeys into the city. The PATH train running from the station to New York is inexpensive, easy to use and delivers you to the World Trade Center district or midtown Manhattan. From there, you can easily connect to the subways. It couldn't be more convenient. One downside: Arriving on a late-night flight, it required more than an hour -- and two or three increasingly contentious phone calls to the hotel -- for the pickup shuttle to finally materialize.
“Great staff and location near Penn Station”
The location was great next to Penn Station. The staff and shuttle service from the airport was very accomodatingt after a long flight and arriving late at night. The hotel could use a few upgrades, but was fine for a nights stay. Only one complaint, the door to our bathroom wouldn't shut all the way, so it stayed wedged open all the time.
“Safe, Clean, and Convenient”
The entire staff was very friendly. The hotel was very clean and nice. It was very convenient to the Penn station. Staff directed us to the local mall. Very easy to get to via PATH. I would stay here again. Price range was great!
“Very impressed with convenience and comfort”
The room was nicely decorated and very clean. The restaurant was well staffed and various shops nearby. Train station was across the street.
“Magnificent location in relation to Manhattan and plus”
Hilton Newar Penn Station hotel is worderfully located in front of the Neward Train Station, facilitating transportation to Manhattan at a low and reasonable cost and only 20 minutes away, if you take the NJ Transit $10 USD round trip ticket. Considering the high roomrates characteristic of the Manhattan area, staying at this Hilton may make you save from $80 to $150 for a double room. An airport shuttle, the nearby Ironbound area with restaurants and shops, and the possibity of getting a shuttle to the Jersey Gardens Outlet Mall ($9 USD round trip) from the P-4 area of Newark airport, precisely where the hotel shuttle picks-up passengers, makes it a great bargain. My wife and I spent three days at this hotel, in our way back from Italy and enjoyed and celebrated the decision. Free internet in the lobby (if you carry your laptop computer), availability of commerce and food nearby, and a very, very kind and hospitable staff, made our visit memorable and certainly, the place to come back, whenever in the NYC area.
