“Good Hotel for my needs”
I wanted an decent and affordable hotel close to New York City. The hotel is located within walking distance of Newark Penn Station and the hotel also provides a free shuttle to and from the station. From there it is only about 21 mins to New York Penn station. I had no problems and would stay here again if I was visiting NYC.
“Excellent base for visiting NYC”
Good quality, cost effective hotel in central Newark. Only 3 miles ($15 yellow cab ride) from Newark Airport. Large comfortable rooms, complimentary breakfast. Shuttle bus a bit unreliable but it's only a 5 to 6 minute walk to Newark Penn Station.
“Good Hotel”
My family had three rooms for 4 nights. Our room was too close to the lift and we could hear the noise and bell every time the lift arrived on our floor. We immediately requested another room. We were given a room on the 10th floor which was fantastic, with views of Manhattan. This was the only incident during a fantastic stay. Bus collected us at the airport. on arrival at Newark airport take train from terminal to P4. At P4 there are hotel phones, call and bus picks up approx 10-15 min wait. We visited Manhattan every day. The hotel shuttle dropped us off at the train station, otherwise a 10-15 walk. On way back called the hotel from the train station and the shuttle came to collect us (on 3 occasions the longest wait was 5 mins) Could not fault the hotel. Ate in the restaurant the last night, very nice. Complimentary breakfast more than enough to start the day.
“Good location for touring the area”
Just returned from a 7 night stay at the hotel and found it to be an ideal base for travelling into New York and as far south as Philadelphia by using public transit. It is a 10 min walk from Penn Station, and found the direct walking route "safe" to walk, even at 05.00 in the morning, and returning from the station up to 23.00 at night. Wouldn't be so sure about straying off the direct route at those times though.... Room comfortable and spacious with a distant view of Manhattan skyscrapers from the window. Caught the NJT "GO28" limited stop bus from EWR airport to the hotel which only cost $1.35, rather than use the train or the Hotel shuttle. PATH from Penn Station to Manhattan is the best (if somewhat crowded at times) way to get into NYC. Hopefully I'll be staying there again.
“ideal hotel for a cheap and nice trip to nyc.”
we stayed there for a one-week-ny-trip and were satisfied at all. we've nothing to complain about. there is a good train connection to manhatten, it takes about 20 minutes.
“great location for prudential centre”
we recently stayed at the best western robert treat for five nights, we chose this hotel due to its location near to prudential centre and newark penn station. Although this hotel is mainly used by business travellers we very much enjoyed our stay. the rooms were very well maintained and a good size and the hotel staff were very polite and helpful. they hotel also provides a free continential breakfast until 11 am which was great.
“Best Kept Secret for NYC”
I can't believe how lucky I was to find this place - last minute holiday to NYC and found even budget hotels in the city itself (and worse, hostels) were priced outrageously high, more than I'd spend on a decent 3 star hotel in the UK. I nearly gave up the trip after finding nothing further away but motels and motor-inns in remote locations. By chance I found very positive reviews for this place, it's in the central business district of Newark, spotlessly tidy area of high rise office blocks. What sets it apart from Newark hotels is rather than being in the middle of nowhere by the airport, it's downtown, 4 blocks or 5 minutes walk from the PATH station for New York City, which runs 24/7 and takes just 15-20 minutes into Manhattan. Having made the walk at all possible times (including 3 or 4 am) on my own, I'm happy this hotel is safe and well located. For access to NYC the price is a steal and I would stay there again at every opportunity, makes too much sense. But clincher is the hotel itself, staff (including a 24/7 security guard) are polite and friendly more than normal in hotels of this supposed standard, they go out of their way to be helpful and considerate. Rooms are luxurious, been in many hotels and this approaches 4*, flat screen TV, fridge, huge beds, armchairs, floor to ceiling mirrors, internet ports and wifi (both free), modern tidy decor and immaculate. Difference in price and in particular value for money from staying in NYC is incredible.
“Best Western Robert Treat Hotel”
Well after reading some of the reviews on expedia I was a little concerned about the local area. When we arrived by car it was fairly easy to find(follow signs to the performing arts centre and you cant go wrong). The local area may appear a bit rough at night but if you have anykind of street smart you will be fine. we had no trouble at all with any local people. Penn station is two blocks away and a doddle to find. The hotel is clean and tidy with good facilities and very helpful staff. The bar/restuarant is nice and the bar has tv's for the sports fans. The trip into New York takes around 30mins on the path train. Cheap and effecient. Would stay again as its a cheaper alternative to hotels in new york.
“Convenient location”
Conveniently located near Newark Airport. We reached P4 & called for the Hotel shuttle, which arrived within 15 minutes. Good value for money. Clean room, no bed bugs (which was a concern after reading other hotel reviews). Breakfast was included, which was definitely worth it. Best to catch the Hotel shuttle back to the Newark Airport & then from there call for a shuttle service to Manhattan, since the hotel-recommended taxi to manhattan seemed quite expensive at 75$. Overall, good value & location.
“Good overall”
Good location. Nice room (once changed as original was wrapped around elevator shaft). We booked 2 rooms and requested rooms on same floor. They ignored request. Reception staff curt.
