Clean and convenient!

Posted 24-Nov-2014
The reason I stayed here and the reason I would again is the location! I'm sure there are nicer more modern hotels, but for the price it can't be beat. The hotel could definitely be updated but all I needed was a clean and safe place to sleep. Check-in needs to be improved. But I would stay again.

Great location and comfortable clean spacious room

Posted 24-Nov-2014
I stayed for five days on the 16th floor in a deluxe double double. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our room. It was very clean, a bit dated, but the beds and pillows were top notch! I couldn't hear street noise except one night with the bathroom Window wide open. I wanted to hear it! I arrived earlier than my check in time but was reassured that my luggage could be checked in so I could enjoy the big city while my room was being prepared. The staff were friendly, polite, courteous, and helpful. The wellington is closer than you think to time square and central park. It is about three blocks either direction. The subway is right outside the front entrance. We usually used the side entrance as our exit. Our beds were made daily and our room was warm and comfortable. There was no view but if I had to trade size of room for a view I would never give up my space. You have all day to enjoy the view in real time and come back to the hotel to relax.

Small, but adequate.

Posted 23-Nov-2014
Location: The hotel really is at a prime location close to everything, and everything is within walking distances.
Our first impression of our room was that it felt small and dark. We later agreed that the size was intact all we needed considering we spent much of our time not there and the darkness was in part due to the decor and the facility was not noted as feeling dirty or stuffy. My only major complaint was with the bathroom, The fixtures were updated and clean but there was no fan in the bathroom, and every time you had a shower, no matter how long, The moisture built up VERY quickly and on EVERYTHING! Leading to the floor becoming very wet and slippery. Also our tub had a draining problem and when using the shower the tub would fill up and we would have to turn off the water and wait for some to drain. I assume this isn't prevalent in all the rooms and I could have said something but I figured they may want to move us to another room and after becoming settled I didn't want to do it all again. Over all the staff were nice and accommodating. The hotel really is at a prime location close to everything, and everything within walking distances. Over all a pleasant experience. Would stay here again.

Proposal weekend

Posted 22-Nov-2014
Pros: The old charm, the friendliness of the staff and the location.
Cons: The heat was too high and the controls did not work to set the temperature. We had to open the window to get it comfortable.
Location: The subway is right there for convenient access to everything. The hotel is in walking distance from Times Square, the theaters and Central Park.
We booked the weekend at the Wellington so I could surprise my fiance with a proposal on top of the Empire State building along with a couple of Broadway shows and other sightseeing fun. The hotel was great. The Bell Captain was very helpful and the entire staff was super friendly. The room was comfortable with a great view of the city and a bit of Central Park. The room was a little hot but opening the windows did sollve that problem. We would definately go back to the Wellington again.

Clean hotel at an excellent location

Posted 22-Nov-2014
Pros: Location
Rooms are clean, staff is friendly. The rooms are small and older but I wasn't in Manhattan to stay indoors. I was out most of the day and evening so that is okay.
