“Trump International”

Everything and everyone at the hotel was wonderful! But at the prices you are paying you expect everything to be wonderful.

Area recommendations

NYC is a huge city. There are many individual neighborhoods most of which I have not experienced.

“I love the Trump!!”

I have stayed at the Trump before, but can't always afford to because it is expensive. However, when I can afford it, it is worth every penny! It is comfortable (luxurious even!), the staff is friendly, the location is amazing--what more can I say??

“Excellent hotel”

We chose the hotel for its location next to Central Park and selected a Park view suite. Although we did have a park view we were on the 3rd floor so it wasn't quite the overlooking view we expected but that said we couldn't fault anything else about our stay here. The staff were courteous and helpful and the rooms were kept very clean. We enjoyed having the seperate lounge area especially as we chose room service on our first night as we were feeling a little jet lagged. The spa facilities were very refreshing to use after a busy day in the city. We thouroughly enjoyed ourselves in the big apple and would return and recommend this hotel.

“Average at best”

Nice location. Rooms were clean but small. Beds need to be larger. Excellent closet space. Main complaint is the TV. Spent 3 nights here and the TV didn't work any night. Called front desk but they were no help. Obviously, not what to expect at a five star. Very snobby at restaurant, too. Wife and I went to the bar for a couple beers and were pretty much ignored. Will not be back.

“Great location”

We rented the suite over Memorial Day weekend. Location is great and hotel is beautiful. However, we were annoyed with keys (had to go back 3 times to front desk because keys stopped working) and TV didn't work 2 out of 3 nights (they had some technical problems in whole hotel). They didn't bother to apologias during the check out even we called both nights to report the problem. This kind of things shouldn’t be happening, but we had great time anyway. NY is the best!

Area recommendations

The area around meat packing district is really hot at the moment. We loved SoHo too.

“Great 5* Hotel in New York”

I stayed here with my 12 year old son for 4 nights. We received a wonderful welcome at check in, even though it was very late (1.30am) there was an excellent receptionist and we were offered a drink which was sent up to our room. We were shown to our room by our personal valet who explained how everything worked and made sure we were comfortable. 5* facilities, 5* staff and 5* service, Trump International makes you feel special. Complimentary tea & coffee in room, hand made chocolates every evening and excellent food. The hotel is located in Centre of Manhattern , opposite Central Park and 1 minute walk to the Subway (metro) so we were able to explore the city very easily. Definitely recommend this hotel, it is a calm haven after a day spent exploring or shopping in this wonderful city.

When to go

We went at half term in February and found the stores had some great bargains in the sale.

Getting around

Buy a MetroPass ($29 for 1 week unlimited travel on subway & buses). We were only there for 4 days but it worked out cheaper than $2.50 single journey.

What to pack

Pack comfortable shoes if you want to explore the city & thermals if you go in February as it is below zero (we took our ski thermals).

Shopping

Macy's has everything you could think of and the sales were on, also extra discounts are offered on Presidents Day (February). We found Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger & Levis very cheap for my sons clothes, be careful on sizes as he is 12 but takes a size 16 in US. Same with shoes, US sizes are different so check with staff, ask for UK or EU comparison so you get the correct size if you are buying gifts.

“Stay away”

I prepaid for the room. I requested an upper floor room at that time. I confirmed this several days prior to arrival. We were placed in a room directly over Columbus Circle. We were then placed in another room on an upper floor the following night where we stayed for the duration. The last night of the stay, upon the elevator doors opening at about 8pm, we were greeted with a large amount of noise. That night, at 330am there was a disturbance in the hallway. I phoned the front desk. Approximately 20 minutes later, I phoned the front desk again because of the amount of noise from the party in the room next door. The following morning at check out I informed the manager on duty of the events. Several days later, I was contacted by the general manager who informed me that a significant amount of damage was found in the room next door. I requested a refund for the last night's stay which was declined. Several days after that I received an email offering a free night's stay. I am very dissappointed. I feel that a gift certificate is not acceptable. I live in New England and currently have no plans to travel to New York in the next year. Even if I did, based on past performance, I cannot trust that any future experience would be pleasant or hassle free. In other words, to this point, I have not been given a reason to return.
