“Wonderful hotel”

Booked this hotel after reading various advisor reviews. This hotel exceeded our expectations for a special occassion stay for my wifes 50th birthday. Rooms were fabulously clean, well laid out, adequate space to relax and sit down other than just on the beds. Sleek clean modern look and feel in rooms, good sized wardrobe and draws, ample mini bar, coffee maker, comfortable beds simple great quality linens. Stayed in a delux room level 23 had a fantastic view of manhatten sky line ok top floor but rooms below this level down to say 14 will have a good view. Great bar lounge area for pre- dinner drinks. The Fire and Oak restaurant part of the hotel at ground level was a delightful unexpected find. Continental cuisine and was so good we eat there 3 times and discarded the Michelin restaurant red guide for NY. We are food snobs so masive plus if you need a hotel with a great restaurant especially after walking around Manhattan all day to relax and dine in. Environs safe quick easy access to Manhttan via Path then Metro. Mall for shopping immediately behind the hotel obligatory for shopaholics! Not too many Hotels we would return to and stay but the Westin NJ is definately one of them. Tip - if flying in consider Newark rather than JFK cheaper on taxis fare and closer to hotel.

“Highly overpriced for value and quality of service”

Attention to detail is a real problem at this hotel. Housekeeping did not show up until 5:30 PM on one day after I returned to my room. On another a dirty pillowcase was left in the room and on a third no bathmat was left after cleaning. Daily valet parking charge is exorbitant and attendants are not very attentive. On one occasion, they couldn't find my keys after retrieving my car. In room Internet charge is per device each day, so if you have a laptop and an I-phone be prepared to pay twice. Restaurants are good, but very pricey.

“shower problem”

Shower was not warm enough and shower curtain was stinky. These should not occur at this hotel brand.

“Hotel is good but service not so good”

Hotel location, room and comfort were all good. But service can be a lot better. We were locked out of our room twice during our 3 day stay because the electronic lock was broken. Had to call the security to let us in and though they promised they will fix the lock immediately. it never happened. By the way, the location is great and has easy access to NY city, liberty park via the subway and the light link rails.

“Overall, very luxurious”

They gave me a room well positioned to watch the July 4th fireworks. Without my even asking for it. My Room was quite new and comfortable. Only drawback - the hotel did not provide a shuttle to transport me to my son's place nearby. The lady at the desk told me a shuttle would only be provided if I was an executive being ferried to an office location. Not sure why the nature of the destination should determine whether they have a shuttle van available.

“Bed Bugs . . . Bed Bugs . . . Bed Bugs”

As a result of severe allegic reaction to bed bug bites compounded by the management's lack of concern, I was hospitalized for 4 days. . . need I say more? Even though I have retained 3 of the little creatures for proof, the hotel insists there were no bugs in the room. I, on the other hand, spent the week in the hospital.

“Not impressed”

The room was not fixed up when I got back from being out most of the day, I had to call the housekeeper to clean the room. She just fixed the bed and did not pick up the soiled towels. She did put new towels but did not straighten the room up.

“Over-booked and unrepentent”

Checking in with a colleague late at night with confirmed reservations made well in advance. They gave him half of a suite ( the half without a bed) and put in a roll away single bed for him to sleep on! Unbelievable. The manager was totally unapologetic and blase about it, trying to convince him of what great room it was. If it hadn't have been so late he would have gone elsewhere.

“Very nice and expensive”

Great location. Short walk to light rail .Nice rooms New Expensive extras, $16/day for internet, $8 mini ba drinks, no shuttle service, about $25/day parking.
