Bathroom way too small

Slowest elevators in the city. Beautiful lobby but the rooms are small.

First bite of the Big Apple

Posted 27-Jul-2014
Pros: Rooms clean and quiet, concierge staff were brilliant helping us locate lost luggage (thanks Bill & Mara) most comfy hotel bed I have ever slept in.
Cons: Tea & coffee making facilities and possibly a small fridge in the rooms
Location: 2 mins Grand Cen Station and subway, St Pat's Cathedral Rockerfella Plaza 1 block across 5min walk. Time Sq. Cen.Park 10 mins. Lovely coffee shop opp.
We found it very easy to get around after our 1st day. We took one of the tour buses and spent a day sight seeing in Downtown Manhattan then decided what we wanted to explore further. Liberty & Ellis Islands were well worth a visit the research team at Ellis is incredibly efficient (thanks Catherine). The 9/11 Museum and St Paul's Church was a humbling and worthwhile experience. We spent an afternoon walking from Battery Park up through Chinatown (handbag lovers heaven) and drifted into Little Italy were we found a small established family restaurant and had dinner, food and service were good but the service charge on the bill was more than the normal rate.We had booked Motown The Musical before we left home and had the most fabulous evening on Broadway, however if you are prepared to queue at the ticket office in Time Sq. for a few hours in the morning time you can buy a reduced price ticket for a show on the same day. Central Park what an adventure the only advise here is don't limit your time in this Wonderland, we followed the music, the cheers, the applause the meandering pathways and were rewarded with the nicest surprises what a way to get the pulse of a city and we only touched on possibly a quarter of this gift, this is our rationale for the return visit someday in the not too distant future. Bring a pocket full of small denominational dollars as you will definitely want to show your appreciation in the most American of ways to the cast of this gem.

Very good location and reasonable rates!

Posted 25-Jul-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Facelift?
Location: Shopping, dining, Empire State Building
I had a conference here which went well. The breakfast and restaurants are on the pricy side, but the food is delicious. The hotel is older and the rooms are in ok condition, could probably use a facelift. Otherwise, great hotel for price.

Pros: The food was good.
Cons: The bathroom. The faucet handle in the sink was broken and there was a drain in the middle of the floor for the water from the shower to drain.
When I checked in, they had given my bigger room away and put me in a smaller one with a broken faucet. There was no one out front to help me haul my luggage up three rows of stairs.

Good Place to stay..however...

Posted 24-Jul-2014
Pros: Location and style.
Cons: A little outadted so could use some renovation.
Location: Times Sq just a couple of blocks away...perfect position.
Nice hotel and good location - close enough to Times Sq but far enough to have some peacfullness at night. No free WiFi in today's day & age really unacceptable. The need to 'rent' a refridgerator - again, totally unacceptable. Would love to stay here agian one day BUT only if WiFi is included and also a refridgerator.

It was only one night but I would come back.

We weren't there long. Early check-in. Hotel was clean and modern. Although we didn't eat there we did see a food tray and everything looked good. I would come back again.

In the Middle of Manhattan

Posted 23-Jul-2014
Pros: In the middle of Manhattan, right next door to Grand Central Terminal.
Cons: Room Cleanliness, I think they are just slammed...
Location: Everything
This is my second time staying here, and while I got one of the the more economy/business rooms this time I am still very happy with the Roosevelt Hotel. My room was very tiny, BUT I was only staying there for one night and only to sleep. Based on that is can't complain. I used their valet parking for the first time. While nothing is easy concerning having a car in Manhattan, their valet was painless and had no surprises. Service was awesome. I was only there a blink on this trip, so the best thing I can say was my hotel was never an issue, and when you are on business that is a good thing.

Excellent location, friendly staff

Posted 23-Jul-2014
Pros: The history, building and location.
Cons: This hotel needs to give its guests free wifi!
Room required a few repairs before I could relax. The price you pay for a vintage hotel.
