Double bed for 2 people Room never was vacuumed Bathroom Tub was peeling, door hit the radiator everytime door opened Used to be a great place to stay Lobby and bar are still good spots to meet friends

Classis Timeless Hotel

Pros: The Location is superb , and The Hotel itself is a classic older Hotel with amazing decor in the reception area , loved the roof top bar .
Cons: The air conditioning could be modified to make less noise .
Location: central to Times Square , Grand central . So many diners to eat in , if your on a budget don't worry about restaurants the diners offer amazing food.
Stayed at the Roosevelt for 10 days and very pleased we booked this Hotel. have stayed in others in the past and this Hotel has been the best for comfort and Location. Yes it is one of the classic older Hotels and this was an advantage as the decor in the reception area is beautiful , like going back in time. Hotels in New York can be expensive and for our stay we were happy with the facilities , a basic room but maid service every day TV , comfortable queen bed and decent shower. great location and also very quiet we asked for a high floor , given level 15. Only two things I would have changed , the air conditioning is old so is constantly humming , our closet was a room in the bathroom which was not ideal , but these were small things compared to the great stay we had . would definitely book at this hotel again.

Pros: It was in a good central location.
Cons: Refurbished rooms and better in room facilities for tea/coffee.
Location: Central to all main tourist attractions to walk or get train.
It was the last few days of a 3 week holiday travelling and we thought we would stay in a nice hotel to finish off our holiday before heading home. Although the main reception area was impressive the rooms weren't. We'd stayed in better budget hotels during this trip. The tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked, the bottom of the bath inside was chipped and the mirror in the bathroom was two mirrors side by side but they hung wonky, had a gap down the middle and were rusty around the edge. There was hardly any wardrobe space or drawers for the 3 of us to put clothes so we had to live out the suitcase. In the cabinet there was a gap where a fridge had obviously once been and there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The decor in the room was looking very tired and needed refurbishing. After complaining at reception we were offered another room but it wasn't any better so decided not to move. The next day after speaking to someone else we were offered another slightly better room with no chipped bathroom floor tiles so we moved rooms. We wouldn't stay in thus hotel again or recommend it to others.

Great Historic Feel

Pros: We liked the historic feel.
Cons: We would have liked to have had the available options to get back to the airport presented at check in.
Location: Times Square, Rockerfeller Center, and some broadway shows are close by within a couple blocks.
We stayed at this hotel because we wanted to be close to the subway and Times Square. Everything we wanted to see was in a reasonable walking distance.

Pros: The bed. Cannot remember staying in such a comfortable bed in a hotel.
Cons: Supply free internet access.
Location: Very central to everything. Five minutes and you are in Times Square or in front of the Empire State Building.
The location of the hotel is great, five minutes and you are in the middle of everything. The room was as basic as it comes. There were two very thin small draws. I cannot live out of a suitcase so found this to be a major inconvenience to me. I in general do not watch TV on holiday but do like to put the news on in the background just in case there is something I want to know. The TV was down for two out of the three full days that we were there. As I had paid through Expedia they were not prepared to negotiate anything. Could not believe a hotel of this grandeur and price cannot offer a courtesy morning coffee. If you wanted one - go downstairs and pay. The bed was amazing. Comfortable is the understatement.

Don't judge a book by it's (beautiful) cover!

Pros: We arrived at noon on Friday and were allowed in our rooms immediately. The hotel's main floor bar staff were professional, friendly. Bed was comfy.
Cons: See above, there are no other words!
Location: Times Square, Empire State Building, Grand Central, Penn Station, even Central Park, all a simple walk.
Well folks, I was so excited to get a really good price through Expedia for The Roosevelt. It looks so grand online and it's in a perfect location. Turns out I won't return. I just got back from a vacation weekend with another couple who stayed here and felt the same way. We prepaid for a 2-night stay and checked in on Friday. All day/night Friday, the tv/internet was out and a male concierge told us it happens quite a bit. The female concierge on Saturday morning was such a snot, very uptight. The bedrooms are cramped (we had two doubles, can't imagine what the kings looked like) and really tired (no updating since the roaring 40s 50s 60s take your pick), the shower drain was clogged, toilet didn't flush right, windows were so dirty we couldn't tell if it was raining outside, the in-room iron ruined a shirt I tried to iron (stains on the ironing board cover too), in-room hairdryer didn't work on day #2, no complimentary coffee service in the bedrooms nor on the floor anywhere, and the kicker: when we returned on late Saturday afternoon our room keys wouldn't work...went down to the front desk and the woman clerk said "are you sure you're staying for 2 nights?" WHAT??? that is the worst customer service EVER. I should have heard "so sorry, we'll correct that right away, our mistake, blah blah blah." I can't make this stuff up. Bad experience.

Rooms old and shoddy!

Pros: Lobby & Rooftop Bar!
Cons: Rooms terrible!
Location: Great location - a 15 minute walk to central park.
Hotel Lobby is Excellent! But Rooms are in desperate need of update. Shower was tiny, moldy, and leaks all over bathroom floor. Water stains on walls. Internet & TV were not working. Could be a great place if the rooms matched the old style d├ęcor of the hotel lobby and grounds.

A lot of small things pile up

The hotel staff was very kind and informative! However, I shower still had residue from the guests before us, the tv turned on but would not turn off manually or with the remote. Which wasn't to bad considering the hotel did not have cable the night we stayed either for some reason. Lastly our alarm clock had an alarm set for midnight for some reason and it woke us up at midnight. Overall the room was very bland and had the bare minimum. Solid staff though.
