About 5 minute walk from time square

Not bad for price! Internet you have to pay per person per day! Looks nice and 5 min walk from Times Square.

Very Nice Hotel in the perfect location

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: Location, Location, Location
Cons: Bathroom is cramped and not a lot of space to put things.
The Roosevelt is in perfect location, room size is small, but who wants to be in the room while in NYC?!

Good location but basic and overpriced

Posted 17-Aug-2014
When we arrived we were pleased with the central location and then the lobby area looked so grand that we expected this to be the best hotel that we'd stayed in during our travels around the NY, Boston and Maine areas over the previous 2 weeks. However we were then shown to our room. We are a family of 4 with 2 children aged 12 and 10 years. We booked a deluxe double room. There was insufficient storage room, and no room for bags and cases without tripping over them. There was no free wifi; no coffee or tea making facilities; the air con was really loud; and there were paper cups provided instead of glass! It felt as though we were in a youth hostel!! Then we discovered a large crack in the bathroom sink! The bathroom was small with a hair dryer that kept on overheating and cutting out. The staff were not particularly pleasant either. There was no personal service and it felt as though we were on a conveyor belt at check in and out. We had stayed in another hotel in NYC on arrival at our hols that was a couple of blocks away and was far superior for similar price. Would not stay here again or recommend.

Nice old elegant hotel right in the middle of town

Posted 17-Aug-2014
Pros: Staff, comfortable beds! Felt like we were on vacation!
This was a beautiful hotel located right in the middle of many things. The room was comfortable, very nice beds!. Bathroom a little small, but it is old. Loved the lobby and dining facilities and would very much recommend this property to anyone. Would definitely stay again next visit to New York City!

Horrible service. Incompetent Management.

Posted 16-Aug-2014
I brought my family to the city for the first time and the Roosevelt Hotel was centrally located to everything we wanted to do (Times Square, Rockefeller Center, ect.) The check-in line was unusually long and it took 45 minutes to get our room. Once we got the room, it was small (typical for NYC) and the bathroom was dirty. The shower had bad water pressure and you could hear the people next door through the vent. All of this could have been forgiven until there was a reservation problem. The hotel tried to check us out a day early and locked our room with all of our luggage inside. When I went down to the lobby to discuss with the front desk (another 30 minute wait) my daughter, who is 10 was asked rudely why we hadn't left yet and that we were inconveniencing THEM. When I got the keys re-activated and heard the story, I called down to complain, but there was no follow-up from anyone in management. Terrible experience all around.

4 Star lobby with 1 star rooms

Posted 15-Aug-2014
Pros: The lobby!
Cons: Everything else.
Beautiful old building. Lobby, bar, stores, etc. are great. The rooms are terrible. Small (and I booked the superior room with a king bed). rooms that are in dire need of renovation). Early in the morning someone calls my room asking for my credit card number claiming their computer system went down and they needed it. No coffee maker in the room, no water bottles (again, SUPERIOR room was booked).

Old hotel with the look and feel of an old hotel. Very full during my visit with full slow moving elevators and very poor WIFY. Not NYC hotel for business visits.

A little disappointed

Posted 14-Aug-2014
Pros: It was central to all tourist destinations
Cons: Internet connection needs to be addressed. There needs to be tea making facilities especially for the mature age group.
Location: It's pretty central to everything
Walked into lobby and wow it looked superb, got to room no tea making facilities which I feel there should be. Internet cost us close to $50.00 a day for 2devices and only worked occasionally and when we complained to staff we're told it wasn't their problem as we paid by credit card and didn't charge to our room which is really strange as the server provider is is providing a service for THEIR GUESTS!!! In effect we paid $250.00 for 5days and ended up going across the road to Cosies and using their free internet with no problems at all. While the rooms are clean they are very old and small.
