Lovely hotel, great location

Posted 26-Nov-2014
Room and hotel were lovely, some staff very nice but others left a lot to be desired, especially being begged for tips by bellboy on our last day when storing cases, we weren't not going to tip, very uncomfortable moment!

Tired

Posted 25-Nov-2014
Tired accomodation. Refused us accomodation (although already paid for in advance) until we paid a cash deposit. If I pay for a room that isn't cheap I expect it to be better than where I live. I don't live in a palace but I also don't have yellowed paint, threadbare carpets and excrement left in the toilet. No coffee or tea available in rooms but there is a well known franchise in the lobby which is overly priced much like their shop which stocks table water at 5x the cost of other retailers. Lifts broke down more than twice and no hot water on our second night.

Location great

Posted 25-Nov-2014
Cons: INTERNET SITUATION
Location: Location was Fantastic! In walking distance to everything!
Staff was great, rooms were small but I expected that in New York. The hairdryer kept falling off the wall and the toilet had some issues but as soon as we told someone about it, it was fixed right away. I was extremely disappointing about the internet situation. Being from away I was unable to use the data on my cellphone and internet PER device was $14 per day. I had to pay an extra $60 just to check my work email. For a hotel that charges up to $400 a night for pretty much two double beds and a TV you would think they would have complementary internet.

In City for just a few days

Posted 25-Nov-2014
Pros: Breakfast was good; the lobby is stunning; and check out was extremely easy using the TV and took < 1 minute!
Cons: The beer at the bar tasted a bit odd and the elevators were slow
The hotel is beautiful and the staff was very accommodating. We were there before the official check in time, yet they had a room ready for us. We were pleased that we had a bar, dining options and gift shop since other friends did not have that at a more expensive hotel in Times Square. We were actually meeting up with friends at many different locations around the city and found the Roosevelt to be a great location for accessing the subway and even to walking to Times Square and Grand Central. Being an older building, noise was a slight issue but not nearly as bad as I originally expected. Most of the noise was more from the streets which can't really be avoided if you are staying in the City itself. Overall, I would stay there again.

Outdated. In dire need of renovations. Small rooms

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Hotel staff were very standoffish. Te rooms were really small. The bathrooms looked like a bathroom you would find in a hostel; dirty, small and toilet was not in working condition. Severely overpriced.

Close to Grand Central.

Posted 24-Nov-2014
Pros: Location in proximity to Grand Central Station.
Cons: A little flexibility on check-in.
Entry point to Grand Central Station is just across the street from the hotel which is very convenient. We stayed Thurs-Sun and lived out of suitcases as there were no dressers in the room. The room was so small (2 double beds) my suitcase would fit between the wall and the end of the bed leaving no room for moving around. The bathroom reminded me of my last cruise ship. It was tiny! We choose the hotel for location and package deal but I would not recommend it to other travelers. No flexibility with check-in; arriving at 2:15 p.m. we and at least 6 other travellers were made to wait to check-in. Check-in staff was rude. She took cell number and did not call when room was ready as she had promised. She mentioned we were prepaid with Expedia and honestly we felt that was a negative because they had our money and could care less if we were dissatisfied

Great location.

The hotel was a little tired and could do with a little decorating. Having said that it is a charming hotel, you could feel it had alot of history. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend it and stay there again if I'm in New York.

It was my first time in NY. I was traveling with my 10 year old daughter. We were welcomed warmly by the staff. Everyone was so friendly and respectful. We definitely will stay at Rossevelt Hotel in our next trip to NY.
