“Love NY, not this hotel”
Cleanliness was a major issue; also room size and apparently a paid upgrade to Queen size does not mean a Queen size bed.
“Not impressed”
On arrival at this hotel we were extremely disappointed. The lobby area is tired, tatty, dark, had a nasty smell of sweet, stale coconut and was reminiscent of a set from the Adams family. The lobby area was cold and there were lots of people sitting around in their coats, a bit like a hostel. After checking in we had a long wait for a lift (we were allocated a room on the 14th floor). The corridors to the room were very dark and dingy. Our room was extremely small, there was no room to get into bed on one side as there was a large chair between the bed and the wall. There was no room to hang anything longer than a shirt, and an ironing board attached to the back of the wardrobe door banged every time it was opened. The bathroom was tiny, and there did not appear to be anywhere to put your suitcases after they had been emptied. The final straw was that we could not raise the blind on our window because the room overlooked a very narrow alleyway, with a window directly opposite where a man was standing in his underwear. As a result of all of the above, and that we were in New York for a special birthday celebration we decided not to stay at this hotel, we found alternative accommodation and checked out approx. an hour after arriving. The only positives I can give about this hotel are that it is in a very good location, just off Times Square and that the room appeared to be clean. Our overall impression however, was that this was a hostel or at best a 1 star hotel.
“Don't go skating!”
Fantastic position of hotel. I have used this hotel many times before and the refurbishment is a bit too modern for us. Expensive breakfast bar but that is the same all over New York.
“Very dissapointed we had 3 different rooms in 4 days”
Our first room was dirty and plaster coming off the wall could not use the wash basin water would not stay in,only one chair no extractor fan in toilet only vent, nothing for disposal of sanitary products,no dressing table and only 3 tiny drawers to store clothes in. Second room the same but heatinf went wrong and we had to change rooms 10pm as the temperature could not be controlled or switched off. Third room just the same but at least it was clean and no plaster coming off walls but then we had no chair at all.We have stayed in 3 star hotels in America before and they were much better than this which was supposed to be a 4 star. Very dissapointing.
“EXCELLENT HOTEL, GOOD MEMORIES”
Very clean and very good service, great location only half a minutes walk to the middle of times square...try and book higher rooms as i was told the lower rooms were a bit noisy from other guests- we were lucky to stay on level 18 so noise was not an issue! Rooms were small but for the price and location it was a small sacrifice to pay! Would be happy to stay there again!
“quirky hotel”
Hotel that may be quirky but being on the dorrstep of Times Square the location could not of been better
“Fab time”
Fab and funky hotel very close to everything you want in new york
“Small room, OK location, Great service”
I had a two queen bedroom and my business partner and I felt like giants inside the room. The hotel has been operating since 1929 according to the signs, so the rooms are smaller, but they shouldn't try to jam two queen sized beds in a room that size. The bathroom was OK in size, but the closet and rest of the room were way too small.
“Heating Noise”
It is a very funky Hotel, but my problem was that I had to change room after no been able to sleep do to the heating system.
“Great location”
Beautiful hotel
