“Great location, expensive”
Stayed two nights here before heading home. Hotel is in an excellent locaton, we were on a high floor had a great view of the empire state building! Quite expensive for two nights, only hotel we stayed in the USA without complimentary coffee/tea. Doubles beds comfy but small and even though the rooms have recently been updated the bathroom looked worn out, expected a bit more for the money paid.
“Brilliant Location”
Once you get over the thought that you have just spent a lot of money to stay in a rather small hotel room and you realise that that's just being in New York and how much time are you going to spend in your room anyway when you're in the City that never sleeps, it's good. Despite being small, the room was very clean and comfortable and we had a good nights sleep every night. The location was brilliant, really convienient for 34th Street Penn Station Subway, and within walking distance of Empire State and Macy's.
“The New Yorker Hotel, 8th and 34th”
Rooms small, bathroom finish very poor. Hotel needs updating. Location excellent. Staff helpful and friendly.
“Overpriced uncomfortable shoebox”
This hotel although in an ok location was seriously overpriced for what you got. The rooms are tiny the bathrooms are old fashioned and tiny too. The lobby looks nice but as you see the floors when you go up the lift you can see they need some seriously updating and maintenence. There is no mini bar or safe in your room and the "wardrobe" you get in your room may as well not be there as you cant fit much in it. Also, i got 2 bed bug bites - i heard this was a problem in NY but didnt think it would happen to me in a hotel which classes itself as 4 star! Its definitely worth spending a little more and staying somewhere decent when you go to NY - try the Waldorf - you defintely wont be dissapointed.
“They are not interested in Expedia VIP card”
They are a partner of Expedia Elit program but when I gave my card to the reception officer expecting any possible upgrade or a word saying that there is not any available upgraded room they just gave it back without saying anything. So do not pick them for being a partner of the Expedia Elite program.
“Fantastic”
First impressions of hotel was fantastic and it lived up to it all the way through our stay! We had a suite with terrace, so if there is more than 2 of you travelling I strongly recommend this!! There was loads of room, as there was 4 of us sharing we didn't feel on top of each other. The staff were all very helpful and the room was very clean. the location was very good a few blocks from time square and fifth avenue, and round the corner from Maceys. Defiantly a must if you are travelling to NYC!
“new yorker average hotel”
Yes the room is small, probably comparable to an average size bedroom in your home & yes the bathroom is very small. No room for two people thats for sure but for us this wasn't a problem. We quite enjoyed the bed. many people complain how hard the bed is. We quite enjoyed the bed. The linens were were comfortable. Very clean. The bathroom tub uses old faucets & I did have one day where the water ran hot/cold but it was very quick & it didn't cause me any uncomfort. It was noticed but not at a level where it caused any concerns. The bathroom caulking is where the bathroom has a problem. It was messy & it attracts dirt. I believe some people get a bit upset with hotels in NYC as the room rates are very expensive & they expect perfection. We had no problem with the staff. We found everyone friendly & helpful when called upon. We did not use either restaurant associated with the hotel. Too many bad reviews on them from previous travellers & there are so many options within a block of the hotel.
“Can't wait to back but would stay at different hotel”
Hotel was in good location rooms are extremely small but luckily for us we had a leak in the room and got moved to 4oth floor free of charge best rooms in the hotel had bedroom and sitting room would only go there again if I could have suite otherwise the stay would be extremely uncomfortable no room to even bend down to put shoes on and I'm not a big person
“Great value on Suites”
Suites cost less than 50% more than a standard room, but are more than twice the size of a standard room, with two bathrooms, lots of windows, not cramped like the standard rooms. Highly recommend.
“Awesome staff!”
Hotel was great! Walking distance to Javits center!
