“Excellant Hotel in central location”

We were very impressed with the quality and comfort of this hotel. The standard room with King size bed was large and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size with bath. We had a room at the back, which although had no views was very quiet, especially as the hotel is just around the corner from Times Square; this was amazing. The rooms are well equipped with bath robes etc. The staff very efficient and helpful. They supply free coffee and pastries in the morning which is a lovely extra. Excellent location to explore upper Manhattan on foot.

“Every stay is perfection”

We have stayed at this Hotel four or five times. It has always been perfect. The staff is friendly efficient and helpful. Exceptional clean and comfortable. Very large rooms for NCY. The Hotel has always been quiet and relaxing when we have stayed The Hotel leaves a nightly forecast for the next day on your pillow. The complementary morning coffee, choice of two blends is excellent. don't miss it, The location is absolutely perfect for the theatre and the Museum of Modern Art.You will save on cabs and public transportation. It appears that the working conditions are good because we recognize the same staff. Respect for workers and fair labor practices are important to us and they should be to you also. Obviously staying at this hotel is a great experience.

Area recommendations
Midtown West because of all the educational events and films at MoMA. We are members and because we go primarily to attend theatre.
Must see
Do not miss the films and Gallery talks that are free with Museum of Modern Art admission.
Shopping
Whether you are shopping for yourself, for gifts, or for something to remember your trip you will find great design and useful stuff at the Museum and Design Store. Different from other Museum shops due to the emphasis on good design at the museum. Nothing I have ever bought there has gone unused or ended up in the discard pile. All price ranges.

“Excellent Choice”

This is a relatively small hotel which was a real plus. Staff were personable and attentive especially Walter at front desk and James the conseriage but all staff were plesant and helpful. The location could not have been better--three blocks north of TS yet very quiet and our room fronted on 51st Street and 7th Ave. Central park was only six short blocks north and Broadway was only one block away. My wife and I could walk to most of the things and we are not youngsters. The room was not overly large but was adequate in size. Bed was very comfortable. Had a light to go out and it was replaced immediately. Service was great. I recommended on the hotels satisfaction survey that they extend the continental breakfast to 10am and consider placing a coffee maker and refrigerator in eaach room. We would stay there again if we were to return.

“Impressed”

A hotel that lived up to the expectations as indicated from the majority of reviews on Expedia. Staff were polite and courteous, and the hotel was nicely furnished and very clean. The housekeeping was excellent even to the extent of changing towels twice a day if you used them during the day. A complementary continental breakfast was supplied, which meant you did not have to rush out to find something to eat in the morning. The restaurant was good, expensive compared to the cheaper facilities close by, but the atmosphere was much nicer. Only complaint is that menus are not shown outside the restaurant and therefore it is difficult to judge prices. Use of a computer just to the left of the reception is free, which allows online check-in for return flights. Overall an excellent hotel

Getting there
To get from JFK to the city cabs are a standard $50 rate which includes tolls; however, you can now use the air train which connects to the Subway system and can take you to Manhattan (midtown) & Queens Subway - MTA NYC Transit E Train for $7.25. Any journey on the MTA Subway system only costs $2.50 per journey no matter what length.

“Best hotel in NYC”

This hotel was a very pleasant experience. The staff was very professional and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. The two things that stood out most were [1] just how quite it was, and [2] the most comfortable bed. Next time we are in New York we will go back to the Michaelangelo.

When to go
A great time to visit New York is during the fall.
Getting around
Taking a taxi is the most efficient way to get around and it's fun.
Must see
Take the time and go to Eataly and the Chelsea market.
Dining
Several places that a visitor to NYC should not miss are Lombardi's Pizza, The Spotted Pig - best burger, Boqueria for the best tapas. The rooftop brewery and restaurant Birreria on top of Eataly has some great beer.

“Great Hotel, brilliant location”

This Hotel is very good, the rooms are huge for New York, we had a junior suite which was a very nice place to come back too. The only minor gripes were the noise of the air conditioning machine and the level of lighting in the room, but it wasnt too much of a problem, other than this the hotel was brilliant on all other aspects.

Area recommendations
Check out cafe duke nearby, which is open 24hrs, and always had lots of fresh food, fruit, infact anything foodwise really!

“Great Midtown Hotel”

The Michaelangelo Hotel was a wonderful place to stay. The hotel itself was clean, quiet and well taken care of. The hotel staff was helpful and courteous. It is situated a block from Rockerfeller Square, a few blocks from Times Square and a few blocks from Central Park. A subway station that takes you downtown is only a block away. All in all, I would highly recommend the Michaelangelo and would definitely go back.

Area recommendations
My wife and I liked Grenwich Village and Little Italy. The restaurants were excellent. We also really enjoyed renting bicycles and riding through and around Central Park.
Getting around
Use the subway. It is convenient, clean, safe and inexpensive.
Dining
Juniors is a great restaurant in the Theatre District for breakfast or for dessert after a show. The cheescake options are pletiful. John's Pizza was outstanding. Shake Shack is a great place for a burger and a shake. Expect a line because it is that good.

“Glad we found this hotel”

The hotel is very conveniently positioned for Times Square and theatres etc etc once you have found your barings it is easy. There is a beautiful marble entrance hall and fast lifts. Our room was very luxuriously furnished and a nice size with 2 huge beds. The air conditioning worked well but was just a little noisy. A small criticism was that wi fi was an additional purchase. On the whole it was an excellent choice for a short break in New York and I would recommend it to others as although it wasn't cheap the price did seem comparable to other hotels in the area.

Area recommendations
There is much to see in New York. I would recommend the hop on hop off bus tours which give an overview of the city although there can be a wait for the next bus sometimes. We went to Mamma Mia at the Winter Garden Theatre and managed to get a discounted price for that evenings performance from their box office. A map of the area is a great help - we got one at the Rockefeller Centre as before that we were getting a bit lost. It is useful to find out which days some of the museums close - the Museum of Modern Art closes Tuesdays and we bought a joint ticket beforehand without realising this and so lost out. The city was very hot for walking about even in September (in the 80's).

“Great location. Quiet rooms.”

Surprisingly quite rooms to be in the middle of mid-town. Very close to all the major tourist attractions. Great coffee in the morning. Very helpful door men and valets. Room was very clean. Just some minor maintenence issues. Subway stops very close.

Area recommendations
Midtown puts you in the middle of everything. A short subway ride gets you uptown or downtown for a couple of bucks.

“Business Trip”

Exceeded my expectations. Once you get used to the rates they charge at all NYC hotels (Whew!), this one was reasonable. I will return.

Area recommendations
Stay close to where you want to end up. Getting around town is expensive and slow.
