Ideally located in Midtown Manhattan

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Pros: Location and staff very helpful.
Cons: Had a non smoking room but could occasionally smell smoke. Would be better to have non smoking floors, as the rooms near to ours were smoking ones.
Location: See above.
Central to many attractions - Empire State Building, Grand Central Station and Time Square, etc. Located on a quiet part of Park Avenue. Very convenient.

Family vacation in NYC

Posted 17-Jul-2014
Pros: Quietness in the rooms but at the same time the Jazz at the Hotel was something we (my wife and I) enjoyed.
Location: Great location, not crowded. Walking distance for Metro access or 5th Av. We couldn't ask for more.
Nice stay. For us it was a family vacation in NYC so walking distance to 5th AV and public transportation was important. The whole family enjoyed The Kitano.

Great Hotel in the centre of New York

Posted 24-Jun-2014
Pros: I would recommend the Jazz brunch on Sunday, a fantastic buffet of food complemented by a wonderful Jazz session lead by Tony Middleton.
Location: The location was perfect as it was only a couple of blocks from Grand Central terminal and the mid-town attractions are within walking distance.
We stayed for 6 nights at the Kitano Hotel and I could not fault it. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the room was lovely with views onto Park Avenue. The facilities were very clean and the room was well equipped with extra towels, pillows and an umbrella!

weekend get away

Posted 16-Jun-2014
Pros: Location, Japanese staff, very typical of hotels located in Japan...felt like "home" to international travelers. Very quiet, niche appeal.
Cons: See above: mixed floor and also soft mattress. A bit pricey but typical of New York City.
Location: Mid-town, easy walk to lots of things; easy to get cabs and subway. But local area is more residential and quiet...a good thing in my book.
Excellent location; wonderful staff; ate lunch in Jazz restaurant - very good. Two things I would change: softness of mattresses and staying on a mixed floor (smoking and non-smoking) during weekend. The mattresses were all replaced recently according to the front desk. After the first night, way too soft a mattress, we asked for a bed board to be placed below mattress. Seemed to help. Next time I will ask for TWO bed boards. Also we accepted (my fault...the front desk gave us the choice) of staying on a "mixed" floor as we arrived around noon to check in. Mistake on my part: I will only accept a non-smoking floor next time. Bottom line: I will definitely stay here again but with this knowledge and changes.

An excellent choice of hotels

Posted 12-Jun-2014
Pros: Everything but the TV
Cons: TV reception
Location: We just needed to be near Grand Central Station which it was. Plus, two of my sons live within walking distance
I have nothing but positives. They up-graded us to a executive suite while maintaining the two double beds. The staff was exceptionally receptive and courteous. Only negative was they were having cable TV issues. I would stay there again without any hesitation at all. A very pleasant experience

Great hotel - nice, quiet and clean.

Posted 05-Jun-2014
Pros: I like sleeping when I travel, especially for work. This hotel did not have any crazy drunk guests arriving at 2am slamming doors and yelling around.
Stayed at the Kitano for two nights. It was a great stay - the hotel was really quiet, so I slept well and savored the peace. The location is great - 5 minute walk to Grand Central. Would recommend this hotel to a friend.
