“Lacks intimacy and reminds me of Grand Central Station”
Yes, if you book a room through Expedia at a relatively cheap rate, you will get one of the un renovated rooms. I refused to stay in one of those rooms and paid a nominal fee for the upgrade. The hotel lacks the splendour and intimacy of a four star hotel. It reminds me of Grand Central Station. Don't expect the doormen to greet you by your name; or help you with your shopping. And they charge for every item you store. Indeed they charge for EVERYTHING. From use of the gym $10 per day to use of Internet $15 per day. They even charge to RECEIVE packages! Yes! If you order something from the Internet to be delivered to you at the hotel, they will charge you a fee for RECEIVING the package at the hotel. $40 appeared on my bill for this, which I thought was absurd as I had already paid shipping charges to send the packages! There is also a $10 fee per package to have the package delivered to your room. Of course, I went downstairs to pick up the packages myself! It is best to book a Club Floor room. We did. Gym access was free; wi if was free and breakfast +hor d'ourves in the evening, with lots to drink was provided; + the rooms were very nice, spacious and comfortable. However, I wouldn't stay in the hotel again because it lacked intimacy +I was concerned about security. ANYBODY can gain access to the room floors. Most hotels in New York have upgraded their security so that rooms cannot be accessed without room key card. Also wasn't happy to pay to receive packages.
“beware the minibar.!”
We have stayed at the Sheraton previously and enjoyed our stay on both occasions. The hotel is currently undergoing renovation works, however this did not disturb us at all. Beware the minibar! it is touch sensitive and whilst looking for milk for the coffee machine It appears that we must have touched articles in the draw which then appeared on our bill when checking out, I explained to a somewhat 'surly' receptionist that we had not used the bar and reluctantly she refunded the taken amount. Generally the staff were helpful although due to the size of this hotel it is a little impersonal. The location is great for Times Square, Rockerfeller Centre etc. and we ate breakfast at the diner next door which is quite pricey!. We found a great Irish Bar further down the street where breakfast was great and half the price. We love New York at this time of the year and would recommend the hotel for a weekend city break.
“There are better hotels in the same price range, and same area.”
It's all about the location. This hotel is conveniently located in the Times Square area. However, it was too expensive for what we got. I stayed there for five nights recently. The staff were helpful, but the hotel needs to be renovated. Many other hotels in that area are much better for the same price. I've been to NYC many many times and stayed at many different hotels. I didn't have a negative experience at the Sheraton Towers, but I'll just choose a different hotel next time.
“Not Impressed”
They didn't gave me 2 beds as I ask
“NY HOTEL”
I was very disappointed that my friends got the newly remodeled rooms on the higher floors (which I requested) and we got stuck on the 16th floor in the yucky rooms. They did not use Expedia and we did. I wonder if that is why they got better rooms? They even got better deal Probably won't be using expedia.
“Dirty room, No towels, bring your own window cleaner!”
Not the maids job to clean the window after the prior peoples kids have fingered it all up. Makes you think what else don't they clean????? Never did I see a wash cloth. Save your towels, you might not get another one. The last night we were there we were given a floor mat for the two of us to share. Get ready to stand in line. Room was not ready during check in so we had to stand in line to check bags, stand in line to re-check in room when available, stand in line to get bags. There was pleanty of staff standing around, maybe they need to be cross trained to better serve the customer.
“Close to Everything...but not TOO close”
The location was great. It was short walking distance from everything (Times Square, Radio City, NBC and lots of shopping) without all the noise that could last all night. Unfortunately while we were there they was construction on the outside of the hotel, so the exterior wasn't the greatest for photo ops. Checking in took some time as there were only a few Front Desk employees available. The rooms were a decent size, considering it was a New York hotel. We were very impressed after calling for harder pillows and they were brought within 10 minutes. Although saying this, sometimes calling the Front Desk or Guest Services we were left ringing and ringing. One other small issue is that on last day, our flight was not until 8pm, but check-out was at 11am or 12pm. Since we planned on walking around and sightseeing until our airport shuttle arrived, we checked out early and had to store our bags in the checkroom. This wasn't an issue until we found out that it was $3.25 per bag. After spending money for internet in our room, coffee in the lobby and tips to each Bell man that helped us, you would think that the hotel would at least hold our bags for a few hours at no cost. Overall, the hotel was good and our trip to New York was fantastic!
“NOV 22-29 THANKSGIVING STAY”
The hotel beds are comfortable and rooms clean however there are noises from the corridors and rooms above ie shower noise. We could hear other people talking in the corridor as they passed our room which is not good in the early hours. We had one fire alarm which was dealt with very efficiently and professionally and we stayed in our room. The only MAJOR fault I had (and will be telling them this) was I asked for a twin room on booking and they said on arrival that requests cannot be guaranteed and I had to sleep with my 21 year old son or upgrade for an extra $30 per night!!!!!!! Not a happy bunny. The Hotel are very good with security and were very helpful, the facilities are good and we had a fantastic time.
“Great location”
The hotel is very convenientally situated, which made getting around easy. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff extremely helpful in all departments.
“Comfortable Hotel In the Heart of the Theater District”
Stayed here for 2 nights. Hotel was very close to our theater (saw Wicked) and the subway was literally steps from the hotel. Common areas were a bit outdated but the rooms were comfortable (small, but then again that is the norm for a NYC hotel.) Plenty of breakfast places just up the street. Would stay there again.
