“Biggest Rooms in NYC”

Great large suites - perfect for family. First room was on construction side, which is not a problem if you are getting up at 7am everyday. We had no problems when we asked the Front Desk for a different room the next day. Bellmen were the friendlist compared to the Front Desk staff. Great location- could walk everywhere.

“Perfect Location”

Great location just off 5th Avenue. Only 10 minute walk to times square, 2 minutes to central park and 5 minutes to rockefeller centre. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms could do with being upgraded however they are kept clean and are warm throughout.

“Excellent Location”

The hotel is in an excellent location, just a short walk from 5th Avenue, Times Square and Central Park. Rooms are spacious compared to some other NY hotels

“Needs updating”

The Hotel was clean and well located but with no bar facilities, and breakfast was served in Polystyrene dishes and cups which meant we did not go back for breakfast during our stay. It also did not provide Wi-Fi free which is available in most coffee shops these days.

“best location”

As a regular visitorto New York I have stayed in several hotels so far the Salisbury is one of the best for lcation. There was a problem with the lifts but that did not cause any real problems. staff were helpfull and pleasant. good standard of cleanliness I would recomend this hotel to anyone going to New York for shopping and site seeing.

Uptown - Manhatton everything you will need is in this area most of the main sightseeing attractions arewithin walking distance

Pre Christmas it is really brilliant

Getting around

/dont be afraid ti use the subway just use common sense dont use late at night etc

What to pack

If you are going late November - December take layers the weather ranges from warm and sunny to thicj snow and icy winds

Dining

Most restaurants and diners offer vry good value for the money just be carefull if your only a small eater as the portion sizes can be huge - try one meal for two people

“Salisbury Hotel, NYC december 2011”

As reported elsewhere this hotel is a little old fashioned - but get passed that and you get a very friendly place to stay in NYC. Decor is dated but very clean. The staff were a pleasure to deal with. my only gripe was the cost of internet access which was very expensive - in my case prohibitive. This is easily sorted at one of the well known coffee houses on almost every street in NYC. We would recommend this hotel for it's location - virtually across the road from Carnegie Hall and two blocks from Central park. We've used another hotel on the upper west side which was also a nice location - but nowhere near as convenient as the Salisbury.

We recommend the La Parisienne Diner. The owner is an old grump - but you won't see him there too often. The staff are excellent and the breakfast specials great VFM

“Perfect location for all the young artist auditions!”

This hotel is probably not getting the greatest ratings because the building is hold, however, we were very comfortable and had everything we needed. They accidentally messed up our reservation and expected us out a day earlier which was kind of frustrating, but in the end they fixed it all and it was fine.

Shopping

Definitely should have traveled to the village more often in past trips to NYC...make sure to get out that way for some fun, good priced shopping that's not all over priced department stores.

“Great for one night stay”

The best part about Salisbury Hotel was the size of the hotel room! The room was larger than most NYC apartments. The hotel definitely shows its age - bathroom was clean but looked dingy. Rooms could use upgrading. Staff was not overly friendly but not rude. Location was great - especially for shopping. Disappointed to find out continental breakfast was not complimentary. I would suggest this hotel to someone for a short stay at a reasonable price.
