The 16-story Royalton, A Morgans Original offers 168 guestrooms and suites. King and queen beds feature pillowtop mattresses, 300-thread-count white cotton sheets, and down comforters and pillows.

Slate bathrooms contain Starck's characteristic glass-and-chrome sinks and either glass-walled stall showers or five-foot-diameter soaking tubs. Agua by Korres Natural Products bath amenities are provided, as are slippers and robes.

Rooms also offer flat-screen HDTVs with cable channels and pay movies, MP3-docking stations, CD and DVD players, pay movies, and minibars. Two dual-line telephones with voice mail, and conference and speaker capability are available. Wireless Internet access (surcharge) and data ports are provided.

Fax machines, cellular telephones, and laptop computers are available upon request. Turndown service and a fire-lighting service which includes cocoa are offered. Complimentary newspapers are delivered weekdays (on request).

“Ryalton hotel,New york City”

Great hotel, but very noisy at night. Dust bins were emptied every morning at 3 am.. Hotel needs to be better sound proofed, oherwise a great hotel to stay.

Area recommendations

Mid town manhatten. This hotel is perfect for all attractions in the city, in walking distance of them all.

“Lovely hotel but watch out for hidden charges”

The Royalton is a beautiful hotel - trendy without being pretentious. The bar area is very cosy, and the room was comfortable and homely. The central location is great - just a block and a half from Times Square. However watch out for exorbitant prices for drinks from the bar, meals in the restaurant and room service. We felt we couldn't take advantage of these facilities because they're so much better value elsewhere, which was a shame. Also check your bill before you leave. We had almost $150 of extras on our bill for minibar items which we had not used, and we had to argue to have them removed. And the bell man will try and talk you into taking a $72 town car to the airport when a taxi costs $45 - presumably because he gets a bigger commission. Keep your wits about you and you'll enjoy the Royalton.

“Spoilt by small things”

The location of the hotel can not be faulted just a stroll from Times Square mid Manhatton. Our room was upgraded without request and complimentary once we revealed the trip was for our anniversary. All the staff we encountered, without exception, could not do enough for us. Our room was comfortable. Three things would have improved our stay: 1- the room smelt of stale cigarette smoke 2- any view would have been preferable to the brick wall 3- in room coffee making facilities These things aside we had an amazing holiday.

Area recommendations

Highlights of the trip: Central Park on a sunny day Boat trip to the Statue of Liberty Top of the Rock - prefered this to the Empire State Building (less crowds, better view of central park)

Hop on & off tourizm buses, not only frequent every 10 mins but also informative

“The best hotel I've stayed in”

This hotel is absolutely wonderful. Very stylish with lots of character and a beautiful lobby. Staff are extremely friendly and can't do enough for you. We had a standard room on the 6th Floor and were impressed with its size for a NYC standard room. It was very well designed, particularly the bathroom and immaculately clean. Location is fantastic: 5-10 mins from Times Square, 1 min from 5th Avenue and about 5 mins from Grand Central Station. There was just one gripe if I had to find one and that was the hotel bar closed at 9pm on the Sunday night. Not sure if this was a one off or not, but we quite fancied a cocktail in the bar on our last night and it was closed - a shame. :( However, everything else was simply perfect so I will definitely be staying there again should I ever go back to NYC!

“Update on Previous Review Posted in May”

After reading my review on here, the Royalton's manager, Jenny, made contact and apologised that her initial email didn't make it to us. Jenny was keen to make things right and connected with her colleagues in London. As such, we diined at Asia De Cuba at St Martin's Lane Hotel for our birthdays last month and the hotel's restaurant and bar staff made a nice fuss of us with complimentary cocktails, champagne and desserts which were all greatly appreciated.

“Rotalton, impressive hotel”

“Excellent choice”

Genuinely superb location 2 blocks from times square, clean, well equipped. Comfy bed, fluffy towels, subway within minutes. Will return without a doubt .

“Living on it's reputation”

Seems tired and past its best. 2 of the 3 lifts werent working, leading to long waiting times. The room was fine but the iPad was locked down with a useless portal which added no value. The wifi reception was poor and it wasn't free. Cmon guys!!!

“Excellent Hotel in an ideal location”

This is a lovely (if some what dark) hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the beds are great. Ideal location for exploring mid town and shopping. Highly recommended would visit again.

“Fantastic Hotel”

This hotel is fantastic great location couple of minutes walk from Times Square and Broadway. Room was cleaned daily . I pad in every room which was great for planning your daily activities and booking restaurants etc. Didn't eat in the hotel restaurant quite expensive but plenty of other great places to eat nearby. Staff in hotel were very helpful and polite. Our room was on 15th floor which was great, very quiet but if you had a lower room I think that noise from the hotel bar and restaurant could be annoying as the bar is very busy especially at the weekends. I would definetley recommend this hotel to others .
