“lovely clean hotel 20 mins by path train from manhattan”
hotel located 5 mins from journal square path station, 20 minutes into manhattan, $2 one way fare. hotel could do with some modernisation, room was large and spotlessly clean. front desk helpful, free hourly shuttle bus to newark international airport. location of hotel not the best neighbourhood, but you will spend most of your day in NYC so this shouldn't put you off.
“Not with a car”
The biggest problem was the parking arrangements. We were directed to a multi-storey car park at a cost of $12 per day and had quite a distance to drag our luggage. I wouldn't go there again.
“rt”
close to subway, price is fair. clean
“Old building, musty smelling rooms”
The building was old, unsure how safe the neighborhood was, poor parking, musty smelling rooms
“Great value for its price range.”
I have stayed in standard room for 5 nights. The size of the room was as big as some of junior suits in smaller hotels. There are micro wave and coffe maker in the room and I could get ice whenever I want. Hotel itself looks a bit old. However. It has great value. Before I visit, I found a review that says this hotel is full of bugs. For me, I was not true at all. Train fron NYC to JSQ close around 11:00 PM. It was not a problem for me. However, I believe it can be big problem for those party people. Surrounding area is not the most safe spot for sure but it is safe enough. I didn't feel any problem to walk alone in the night. This hotel is not a great hotel but it has great value. If you can get up 30mins early get this hotel and save your money. It is perfect place to get around NYC.
“Will book this hotel again when I am there next time.”
Good hotel and I'd like to recommend to my friends.
“good location for not so much money as compared to NY”
The persons at the reception are extremely friendly and have given us good tips and hints for traveling to Manhatten. The breakfast was OK, whenever we went for breakfast, early or late, there was always sufficent to chose from, but more places to sit would be nice. The rooms are clean and comfortable, it would be nice if they would place some cups/plates and silverware in the room so we could use the small kitchinette. Surely a hotel I would recommend !
“All I Could Ask For”
I had a completely comfortable and happy stay at the Ramada in Jersey City. Was there for five nights and have nothing but praise for the staff and the accommodations. If you are like me and looking for a home base while visiting Manhattan, you can save hundreds and make this work. The PATH train and bus station is just a block away (and you'll pass stores with everything you need on your 1-block walk). The ONLY downside, which is not the hotel's fault, is that very-late-night commuting back from the city can be a little spotty. The buses run infrequently after midnight, and I had to take a cab one night ($45) because the trains weren't running to Journal Square. (However, I could have taken the train to Hoboken and gotten a much cheaper taxi--just wasn't familiar with the lay of the land at that time.) I also wouldn't recommend it if you like to stop back by your hotel frequently. Me, I'm up and out in the morning, sightseeing, going to theatre, etc., and only come back to relax and sleep. If you do want a quiet morning to check email, etc., there is handy wifi and so on--I just wouldn't count on a quick trip to your hotel and back out to the streets, because the commute is about 30-40 minutes to downtown. Overall, this is a great way to stay NEAR the city for cheap, and to have really comfortable, clean accommodations in pleasant setting.
“Very convenient and good value for the money -”
Ramada Limited Jersey City is conveniently located to access Hoboken and mid-town Manhattan by train in just a few minutes. Hotel staff is very pleasand and accomodating. A good breakfast is a plus. Rooms are neat and clean. Parking is a problem but, all in all, this is an excellent value for the money.
“Scary Neighborhood, Nice Staff, Old Hotel”
The Ramada Limited is located in a very dingy part of Jersey City. I do not recommend staying in the area. The hotel itself was also quite dirty and poorly maintained. The staff, however, were very nice. Unless you have a meeting in Journal Square, there is no reason to stay here.
