“Convenient and Comfortable”

I had booked this hotel some months before our trip but almost cancelled due to recent reviews before we travelled. So glad I didn’t cancel. It’s a great location one block below Central Park, a comfortable room with excellent quality bed linen. We had booked a room with one queen sized bed as it was more expensive for two but on arrival we were offered a room with two beds at no extra cost. The room was at the back of the hotel, overlooking the courtyard and although not a great view, it had the benefit of being totally quiet at night, ensuring peaceful sleep. Normally with such a great location, traffic noise can be heard throughout the night. We found the staff friendly and helpful in particular the room service staff did an excellent job every day. I would recommend this hotel and would return on our next trip to New York.

Area recommendations
Upper West Side, Mid town, Times Square. We have stayed in different locations in New York and because of the subway we have never had bother getting around.
Getting around
Get a subway pass and a map. Week pass, day pass, one off use or add money to card. Can also be used on busses.
Events and shows
Half price shows can be booked on the day of the event by queueing at the Ticket area (around 46th street). You could queue for an hour or more but if you are not interested in one particular show (not Fri or Sat), visit the Ticket stall area around 6.00 p.m. Queues are much smaller.

“Fantastic location”

First time in New York and absolutely loved it. Hotel is in fantastic location with most tourist attractions within walking distance. Staff extremely helpful and very polite. Cant wait for second visit!

“Ultimate Location”

Park Central is awesomely located. Although named after Central Park - I thought it was closer to Times Square until our first day when we realised just how great the location we picked was. We could see Times Sq from the window. Park Central was perfect for us as we wanted more of a base then somewhere to spend a lot of time in - and everything was near by and the subway line (yellow one) got you around the city quickly! Would really recommend it if you want somewhere to sleep rather than live in New York

Area recommendations
Get out of tourist New York! The original Juniors is just over the Brooklyn Bridge (if you dont know Juniors, you will when you arrive comes recommended by everyone!) and Brooklyn has a great vibe! Also we went way North of Central Park to find an IHOP and the service was a lot better than in Times Square! This i guessed was Harlem but not sure (135th Street)
When to go
We went just before Thanks-giving and was quite peeved to miss the Macy's parade. I'd say to research what's going on - I wanted to see a Rangers game at MSG's but there none on while I was there (to my knowledge anyway)
What to pack
The bare minimum - stay off of 5th Avenue and visit the boutiques. Great t-shirts and jeans a lot cheaper than over here.

Juniors! Stay out of TGI Friday's - nothing like over here and the staff are so arrogant!

“Excellent location”

Excellent location for Times Square, Central Park, Rockafella, Radio city, Broadway shows and 5th AV. Hotel staff very friendly but phone in room was broken and messages that were left for us didnt reach us, despite asking for phone to be fixed. Would stay there again. Clean and comfortable.

“not impressed”

For the overall cost of the hotel, the quality of the rooms was below standard. The pictures on line do not truly reflect what you get!. Very disappointed in the room.

“Poor Service and Attention to detals”

look for another hotel.

“Great Location”

The best thing about Park Central is it's location which is perfect when you only have a few tourist days in NYC. The staff were friendly enough and the rooms fine... Quite tired and in need of a bit of a lift, our curtains didn't close and there was noise from aircon units. Our stay was quite pricey and not only was breakfast extra, but wifi and luggage store etc. I would only recommend this hotel due to it's location (and there are quite a few hotels in the area) so go for it if you can get a good deal!

“needs work”

no telephones working in room; fire alarms went off at least twice during stay for no legitimate reason; room walls were filthy towards the ceiling; window curtains were old, ripped, and partially detached; need i go on? on the other hand, the location is ideal for those who want to get to theaters within 5 minutes on foot and only 2 minutes from Central Park. also within 1 to 2 minutes walking distance to fifth ave. and madison ave. shops. The hotel staff are great and have great attitudes and are friendly; it is the building/room itself that need a complete interiors renovation and work on the annoying technical problems!!!

“Great Location and Hotel for Romantic Birthday Surprise for Wife”

I was pleasantly surprised with the Park Central. I selected it for location and given the mixed reviews in virtually all NYC hotels, I figured this to be a crap shoot. Although the room was a handicapped room, with a weird shower set up, it was large, clean, quiet and comfortable. Yes, quiet... Did not use any services but check in/out was easy. Have to time it so not to get behind the tour groups. Great location for Bwy, Midtown, Central Park South/West and subways.

Dining
Gina's on Amsterdam on Upper West Side...Fantastic meatballs and pasta. Via Quadronno at 73rd x Madison...unbelievable italian sandwiches and lasagne. Sevilla best Paella on the planet...oldest waiters on the planet too.
