“Can't fault it.”

Novotel sits just below Times Square, and is a great location to explore New York. The staff were always helpful, and a special mention must go to Ian on reception, who gave some great advise on do's and don'ts.

Area recommendations

The one definite must do is the Top of the Rock view from the Rockerfella Centre.

“Would certainly use again”

Excellent location you can walk everywhere or get the subway We got upgraded to a room over time square which was lovely The room. Was clean and comfortable my only winge was the shower tap needed repairing but still worked will choose this hotel again

“Lovely hotel and staff!”

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel. We first went 4 years ago on our honeymoon and were very happy with the hotel and its location. All the staff are very friendly and happy to help. The location of the hotel is excellent for a trip to NYC. It's within walking distance to most shopping and tourist attractions. The hotel is clean and well maintained, the beds are really comfortable and the rooms are large for a NYC hotel. I cant comment on the restaurant as we ate out for all our meals. I would definately stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

“Ideally positioned hotel for New York sightseeing”

Excellent hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast rather expensive for a standard buffet. Ideal location within walking distance of Times Square and easy to walk to Central Park Highly recommended and would go back

Area recommendations

All areas are accessible but we only explored Manhattan. Obviously the 9/11 Memorial is a must see, but Central Park and surrounding areas are all eye openers. Times Square is amazing and worth battling the crowd to visit.

“Happy”

We picked this hotel as they had smoking rooms on 18th floor. We were very happy with our room as it was clean,bright & had everything we needed. Although we did not eat in the hotel the restaurant & bar looked really good & modern. They also had a very large outside verandah area at the bar & restaurant and, although it was December, the weather was terrific & we were able to sit out there for drinks & a cigarette. We found all the staff friendly & helpful especially the concierge.

“Great location”

Quick check in, arrived four hours early and room was ready. Didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on restaurant. Location was excellent, five minute walk to Times Square, of which we had a fantastic view form our 32nd floor room. Room was surprisingly spacious, in good condition, comfy bed and flat screen TV. Bathroom fine. I'd recommend this hotel in a minute!

“Fantastic Hotel”

Great location, lovely staff, could not criticise a thing. In my opinion it deserves to be rated at least a 4* hotel

First week in December at the earliest to take best advantage of Christmas atmosphere

Walk as much as possible as you may miss great finds such as small shops etc if you travel everywhere by taxi

“we got exactly what we wanted from this hotel and would return here!”

Excellent location to Times Square and the subway! To say it was New York, the rooms were very spacious with a fantastic view of Broadway (we were on the 19th floor). The room was clean and serviced everyday. The black out blinds and windows were a welcome break to the 24 hour noise and commotion in midtown, cutting out sound and light for a peaceful sleep. I would definately recommend this hotel to others. There are one or two bleach stains on the carpet and DIY attempts are visible in the bathroom, but this can be expected at any hotel that isn't 5 star! The staff were efficient, but we never saw the same member of staff more than once. Based on reviews we had read, we decided not to eat or drink in the hotel due to the cost, and we probably didnt miss out as the availability of other eating and drinking facilities in New York is staggering! Fantastic 5 night stay in the Novotel!

Area recommendations

I suggest taking the Gray Line bus tour, which you will find in Times Square - look out for the ticket guys in red jackets! I did the lower and upper tours over 2 days. Get the 2 day ticket for only an extra $10 as it means you get to see ALL of Manhattan, getting off at the places that interest you. Greenwich, Tribeca and Soho are lovely on an evening, away from neon lights and papping horns!

“Novotel - good price in Times Square/Theatre District”

The hotel is locate on Broadway at 52nd street. DIdnt have time to wander about inside, but what I saw of the common areas was very nice. Room needed some updating. Older fixtures and worn out furniture, but very clean and comfortable. Room service was fast, courteous, tasty and very reasonably priced for NYC. An excellent value - if you can live with the dresser or closet that doesnt close right.
