“Great time but room for improvement”
Renovations to hotel started at 6 am needed ear plugs not what I wanted to here on vacation getaway. Furniture in room was nice and modern although craftsmanship of reno's not great. Staff was great and informative.
“Good location and cheap”
Great location, clean rooms, rude staff, feels like they are doing you a favor by helping you. No early checkins, do not even try. Beds comfy and great showers.
“Great Location If You Don't Require Luxury”
This is my second stay at the Milford. My first stay was in a room with two double beds on the street and was pretty good. This room had one queen bed which was very clean and comforable, but the room was small, but adequate - no dresser - European 3 star variety hotel which is probably why many Europeans stay there. It wasn't a renovated room, but those aren't much better according to other quests. A concern was that there was some mildew on the wall at the top - that is not good. The location of the hotel is wonderful. One block from Times Square with theatres on both side streets. The hotel is on 8th Ave between 44th and 45th strreets. Don't expect anyone to greet you in the lobby and help with lugguage. I don't need that so I was okay. As a matter of fact, I get tired of paying people to handle my luggage. Rarely do you have to wait for elevators - they are very efficient. Push your floor number and it tells you which elevator to take. I would definitely stay there again even with its shortcomings.
“Under construction and thin walls...”
I spent two nights at the Milford. When you first walk in, you think it's going to be a comfortable stay, but I was proved wrong. I kept waking up in the middle of the night because of loud construction outside-it sounded like someone was going to break into my window. There a VERY thin walls...you can hear other room's tvs, and water in the pipes. To top it off, my faucet would not stop running water. The room was tiny...but that's to be expected in NY hotels. I was in a rush to leave the hotel at check out, and waiting for the never coming elevator with a ton of luggage, so I ended up going down one flight of stairs with no one offering help. Would never reommend this hotel. I would rather pay $100 more a night for a standard level hotel, than this place. The only nice thing about this hotel was that it is a block from Times Square. That's it.
“A dump”
a dump!
“Convenient”
Service at desk checkin very good. There was a $3. charge to leave one small bag after we checked out. That would be ok but it was another $3 to pick it up.
“Could have been better”
Arrived at 3:30 in the afternoon and was told checkin time was 4PM. Had to check our luggage and wait. Strangely enough, the next morning house keeping was knocking at our door at 8AM. Although the room itself was recently remodeled in a contemporary design there was no place to put our clothes so much of our stuff was all over the floor. Single ply toilet paper is just an indication of how cheap they are here. Could not get coffee in the morning because at 8AM, the clerk with attitude in the store was behind a locked door "putting stuff away". Concierge gave us bad information about bag storage at Grand Central Station - FYI there has been no bag storage at Grand Central since 9/11.
“It's O.K.?”
It served our purpose?. Wouldn't recomend it. Our room was very clean, no mildew or bedbugs. Thank God!! We had a renovated room, that's what they called it. To be specific, to help others, it had bath fitter shower surround, new sink. The walls and wood trim was just painted over gouges in the wood. The room was very small and the bathroom was extremely small. Wouldn't want to close the door. To be fair though it was very clean and the staff was very nice and hospitable. The hotel was clean and very nicely decorated for the xmas holiday. The bar was clean and nice. We liked the security of the hotel also. I guess it is just what your looking for and your taste. The price for one nights stay wasn't very reasonable compared to the type.
“NYC !”
Good solid hotel in great part of NYC
“Terrible physical building, great location”
The Milford Plaza is on 8th Ave between 45th and 44th streets. The building is undergoing renovations. The lobby is lovely, the exterior covered by scaffolding and sheeting. The room/hallway on the 6th floor are old, poorly maintained and unappealing. The tile and grout are dirty, and loose hair was lying on the bathroom floor on my arrival.
