NYC Hotel

Posted 08-Aug-2014
Pros: Good location. Free internet, but not great bandwidth.
Cons: Have vending machines. Have glasses.
Location: Just 10 minute walk to Time Square.
The hotel seems to be in the process of renovating itself but it also seems that some people actually live in some of the rooms, which was weird. My room was nice but pretty small, no coffee machine, no glasses in the room and no vending machines on the floor. My room was facing the street and it's a pretty noisy area so I was glad to have earbuds to sleep. I did like having free internet and a small desk to get some work done.

This hotel's lobby is being renovated which means there are no services in this hotel other than your room. Also, workmen start banging the heck out of the lobby's roof at 7:30 AM, which will definitely wake you up if your room faces that side of the building. Lastly, my room was TINY - I've never seen anything like it. There was no closet so the ironing board was just leaning against the wall with the iron on the floor. Not worth the money at any price.

It's good but it's in process of renovation, so we don't have chance to see real lobby. It's not a big deal because lobby is the only place where guests feel renovation.

Dissapointed

Posted 31-Jul-2014
My room smelled like food Shower is created for water to flow out, so water everywhere 2x mirror had a screw missing so I had to improvise Bathroom door wouldn't stay open so had to use a towel to hold door Demagnetized keys, both of them after a "long " day. Had to go back down to get another No cups in room Staff gave me wrong "walking directions" so I walked and walked until realizing I was walking in wrong direction No water in waiting area. Staff seemed to be bothered I asked when I returned back to hotel

Disappointing.

Pros: Location - convenient access to midtown and lower manhattan while also in a nice area. Front desk staff were helpful when I needed them.
Location: Plenty of bars, less options for good restaurants in the immediate area. Short walk from Madison Square Park.
The room was overpriced for what you were getting (and that's while ignoring the fact that the entire ground floor is a building site). The standard room is very small indeed - beware the deceiving website photos, focus on the square footage which, to be fair, is explicitly stated for each room. I paid for a larger room as soon as I saw the room I had been designated and even then I had to request to move as the "free wifi" was woeful. That is probably what irritated me the most about the whole experience - attracting customers with free wifi and then not delivering is hopelessly frustrating. After that there was a grocery list of other inadequacies - 1) odd smell in room that seemed to be a worrying product of the "daily cleaning" 2) the "daily cleaning" was not "daily" as a couple of days it looked like my room had not been touched 3) no minibar or fridge 4) no room service 5) not enough storage space between the narrow wardrobe and shallow drawers 6) pokey bathroom with extremely limited sink space 7) dodgy shower door that caused flooding of bathroom floor after each use 8) wifi not much better despite changing for better wifi. I did stay 16 nights so I got overly familiar with the hotel. And unfortunately, in this case, familiarity bred contempt.

Great location. Comfortable beds.

Pros: Good location, good price, comfortable beds, reading lamps.
Cons: Place to sit.
Location: Good mid-town location.
Hotel is undergoing renovations. Our room was very small, but had a large, totally renovated bathroom and very comfortable beds with good reading lamps. However, no desk or place to sit.

Excellent value for money and location

Posted 10-Jul-2014
The hotel is conveniently located in the Gramercy neighborhood, lots of nice food places at a short walk's distance away, including the very nice Jazz Standard club. Excellent value for money, no other 4 * hotel in Manhattan offered comparable rates. Stayed for 5 nights in June 2014, there was some building work going on but it didn't disrupt our stay at all. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. The single room is exactly what it says: a small single room but the fixtures (including those in the en-suite bathroom) are modern and in very nice condition. Everything was impecably clean. Perfect for what I was after: a nice clean room in a good Manhattan location at an affordable price.
