“Quirky hotel in New York”
The hotel looks and sounds more like a nightclub than a hotel. All of the hotel is very dimly lit with constant music being played which are the major downsides. The room was very small especially the bathroom which, whilst I know it's New York, I would have expected much more for the exorbitant price paid. Hallways were dark and dirty with rubbish left outside rooms which was not removed for days. There was chipping paint everywhere - I think the dim lighting is to disguise the shocking state of repair. The elevators were incredibly slow and considering there should have been 6 of them working it didn't appear that way and the lifts were always full. The heating did not work and took several goes before it was fixed - it either blew constantly cold air or hot air regardless of the setting it was on so went from 67 degrees to 86 degrees. The hotel should have moved me immediately. I should have read the reviews more closely as I would not have booked this hotel. Other than the location, which is brillliant there is nothing to commend this hotel as it does not represent good value for money and is little more than a "high class" hostel.
“Nice”
Very nice
“Good Things Can Come In Small Packages”
The room was small, but we knew that going in to the trip. The room was very well decorated and clean. Even though it was small the hotel does a good job of utilizing the space that they have in each room. I would recommend paying the little extra to upgrade to a slightly larger room. We got the upgrade and everything was great, but I can't imagine going any smaller than the room we had. Enough with the size, now down to the important stuff, because you are going to New York, and there is so much to do, you know you aren't just going to be sitting in your room. Staff was great and were more than happy to direct us to local spots within walking distance. The atmosphere was great! Really, what other hotel are you going to hear Interpol playing in your elevator? Great location in Midtown. Within walking distance to Central Park, 5th Avenue, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and much more. Great experience. Nothing negative to say.
“Good location everything we needed for our stay”
This hotel was great. I had read other reviews so was ready for a small room! (Although I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised) It was compact, but everything was there that we needed. enough room to store everything. nice shower and products. The location was really good for Hells kitchen, Time square, 5th ave and central park. Cheap to get taxis further afield. I don't normally opt to stay in the hotel bar for drinks after dinner, but I made an exception here because to 2 bars were great looking, but after I got past the bouncer and persuaded the waiter to give us a half decent seat in the bar which was virtually empty, we chose an over priced drink but noone ever came to take our order. After a long day I didnt really feel like persuing it so we left. Bit disappointed. If we had had better treatment we would probably have spent more evenings there, but we didnt bother again.
“not impressed”
Very dark halsl and foyers, tiny rooms staff always talking to each other instead of customers. Loud neighborhood and loud door closing
“Love The Hudson !!”
I was looking for a hotel in NYC , for 2 nights. Expedia had a great deal at the Hudson. I had stayed there a few years ago. Glad to return , I knew what to expect. Rooms are small, but very nice. Great location, close to subway. The Hudson is a smart place to stay and I would be glad to stay again.
“small rooms but comfortable”
having read the reviews was expecting to be disappointed with this hotel. While the room was small it was compact and modern. The only problem we had was a long wait to sign in after finding the hotel which was not easy. No sign outside and the oddest entrance to a hotel followed by an escallator with a huge queue ending at the top of the escallator. very slow check in but helpful staff. Would probabley stay here again now we found it!
“Bad Experience”
I've stayed at the Hudson before, but it has become an awful experience. The only redeeming qualities of the hotel are location and a great club scene, if you're in to that. The hotel is dark and dreary, the service nonchalant and the rooms are tiny and poorly furnished. I upgraded from a deluxe to a superior room and I still felt like I was sleeping in a closet. Did I also mention that there is no room service? According to the front desk, they also have a significant lag time between when Expedia reservations are made and the reservations show up in the hotel's system. I waited at check-in for 20 minutes while they sorted out my reservation! This is my last stay at the Hudson.
“Excellent location”
Excellent location.
“This place is terrible”
Hey, do you like feeling cramped? You can't get out of the shower without tripping on the toilet. You get out of bed and your head hits the TV. The room is too dark to get dressed or put on make up. Your knees hit the wall when you sit of the toilet. No coffee in the room or the lobby. If you are overweight or over 6 feet tall don't stay here; you won't be able to use the bathroom. The street entrance is not marked. The lobby and common areas are so dark you think it is night time all the time. I would only stay at this hotel again if it was free and I was drunk and I didn't care how bruised my head and knees were.
