“excellent value & great location”

this hotel is literally a few minutes walk from Times Square, really convenient with lots of restaurants, bars and deli's within walking distance. The reception was lovely, the room was fine although more dated. It was clean though, and large (for New York standards!). Only complaint really was the shower was quite weak and the room was roasting hot as there was a boiling hot water pipe in the bathroom which pumped out heat. Generally a great experience though and would definitely go back, a hidden gem!

“Fantastic base for NCY”

The St James is ideal for touring around NYC, it is so near Times Square! there is a great deli (cranberry cafe) and a starbucks next door if you need an early morning coffee and great breakfast. The rooms are very basic but we only used our room to sleep and shower! The rooms at the front of the hotel were noisy due to the proximity to the street and the central location. This should be expected, you can't have everything!

The hotel was convenient to everything,the room we had was so quiet and clean,fantastic deli next door,most things were within walking distance,will definatley recomend this to friends and we will be going back.

“Fun times in New York”

The room was fine. We were on the second floor on the street side so the noise level was a bit of a problem since we had to open our windows because the radiator worked only full blast and it got really warm. The location was the greatest!

“Can't beat the location!!!”

Hotel St. James, is in the heart of times square. It is a few blocks away from several broadway shows, shops, and rockafellar center!!! The hotel staff was nice and poliet. There was luggage storage for guests arriving early. $5 extra for a locker was worth the money. The room was clean. Wasn't anything to write home about, but it was a decent place to sleep and had a great location!!!

I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is by far the cheapest in the area and in very good conditions, not to mention that is one block walking distance to timesquare. Not a super fancy hotel and the room size is not too big, but overall everything is good. The bathroom was clean, the sheets were clean and the attendants at front desk are nice.

“Location about all that's worth it”

Room was literally just big enough for the full size bed. Not many other amenities. Price is a little cheaper than others in times square. Not going to stay in your room in the city anyway, so serves its purpose.

“Nice old world charm”

Extremely convenient,friendly staff,clean room and a hotel that reminds you of the early 1900's......would stay again for sure!

“perfect location.....nice front desk workers”

St. James is an older hotel. The rooms are small and if you're looking for amenities go somewhere else. There is no coffee pot, no fridge. The tv is an old 19 incher. If you're looking for a place to lay your head and take a clean shower, then you'll be fine here. The walls are thin and you will hear your neighbors in the early a.m. hours. The front desk people are very nice. Your room is cleaned each day. The perfect location!!! We've stayed her twice now and would stay again.
