Ordinary hotel room for a "luxury room"

Posted 22-May-2015
Pros: Its convenience.
Cons: If someone reserves a "luxury room" rather than a standard room, try to give the person a higher floor and not with a view of another office building.
We had booked a "luxury room," and I asked for a higher floor when checking in. We were given floor 10, and the view was another high-rise office building--you can see people in that building clearly, and so you know they can see you--so we had to keep the curtain closed to give ourselves some privacy, and it felt very claustrophobic either with the curtains open or closed. The room is small--not extraordinarily small, but basically is just like any other ordinary hotel room. The point is that, if I had paid for it at a standard room rate, I would not mind; but for a higher rate, I would like to see some difference. If this is a "luxury room," I shudder to think what a "standard room" is like.

close to theaters and Times Square.

visited Manhattan for the first time. Knew that rooms in general would be fairly small. Room was nothing spectacular but was clean and bed was comfortable.no view despite paying for "premium" room on the 8th floor. No vending machines available but did have a mini bar. staff was polite. overall ok hotel but nothing to write home about.

NYNY

First visit to NY and chose hotel due to proximity to Times Square and location to visit main attractions. Hotel very nicely appointed and staff friendly and helpful on the whole. Beds very comfortable and room very clean and well appointed. Ate in restaurant twice and meals exceeded those of similar restaurants in area. Would happily rebook on our next visit.

Great location 1 and 1/2 blocks from Time Square

Posted 14-May-2015
Location: Time Square
Really enjoyed our stay. Room was adequate nothing really fancy, but nice and well kept up. Bathroom was very nice with a shower and tub and roomy vanity. Wi-Fi is a must and they allow free access for a limited number of devices. First night they had some snacks out, very nice. Great package deal with air and hotel. Way to go Hotel Sofitel and Expedia!

Great midtown location. Room was uncomfortable, inconvenient, and disappointing. Not as depicted on the hotel's website; misleading. Staff was mostly pleasant and professional with one exception. When asked how I found my room, I responded "disappointing", to which staff replied "thank you" and that was the end of the conversation. No inquiry as to why I was disappointed with my room. So, I won't stay at the Hotel Sofitel again.
