Cons: More description about the size of the room ... Actual vs. Theoretical information's on expedia and actual hotel
Location: Surrounding nothing special
Not to be repeated, Terrible.. I was shocked when I saw the room its like 2 * 2 meter only

Check in and cleaning staff were very friendly. Location was very central. I won't stay so close to Times Square next time but it's right next to many subway lines and very close to a lot of landmarks. The room was nice and the bathroom seemed very clean.

Would not reccommend

Posted 12-Apr-2015
Pros: It was very central
Cons: The lilghting in the room and the reduction in the noise from aircon unit.
Location: almost in the heart of Times Square
Our plane was delayed so we arrived at the hotel later than expected. We had requested a twin room. When we arrived we were met by a rather surly receptionist who told us that there were no twin rooms available. We were given a room on the third floor. The room was very poorly lit, we had to keep the bathroom door open in order to see whilst in the bedroom. The room had a large noisy aircon unit and there were several of these outside the window, which kept us awake at night. We were expecting there to be some noise particularly traffic, as it is in the heart of a busy area but the aircon noise was unbearable. In the end we had to wear earplugs. This hotel was definitely not good value for money.

The best thing is the location of the hotel. It's only one block to the open area of time square, the place of many screen advertisement. Moreover, the hotel it self is not bad. Even though the room is very small, it was comfortable. I stayed in standard room. I would say if you're by yourself, this hotel is for you, but if you're with family, this hotel may be small for you. Also, I would like to mention that there are many hotels around the area; however, this hotel was the cheapest. Thank you for you reading my experience. I hope you find it helpful.

Something ventured... a little gained

Posted 06-Apr-2015
Pros: The bed was very good and comfortable. They provided a fridge at no charge. Clean
Cons: Personnel should be more friendly. Internet is typical FREE Wi-Fi - very low quality. The maid every day 'forgets' something: toiletries set, tea bags
Location: Just a few steps from Times Square
Stayed for three nights in April 2015. Polite, but very unfriendly personnel - they have no name tags (?), so no way to distinguish them. Arrived at 1 p.m. - absolutely NO WAY for early check-in: was allowed to go in at 3 p.m. sharp. The room was nice, but it faced a huge AC machine from nearby building - lots of noise. The manager was nice and quickly shifted me to another very small room facing the street - hence the STREET noise (e.g. at 4 a.m. garbage collection). Ridiculous bathrobe: just fits good 10 year old boy. No REAL hot water - changing from lukewarm to warm. Basically, if you want proximity to Times Square, and are not too picky - this is for you.

New York first time

Posted 01-Apr-2015
Pros: very clean, comfortable and modern hotel. Staff very engaging.
Location: very short distance from Times Square, plenty of choice for eating, a block either way and found places that locals ate at very reasonable prices.
we tried to book other hotels on friends recommendations but all booked. Hotel Mela came up and liked what we saw and am glad we booked. Location perfect, staff and conceriege very helpful. We had a very late flight home and asked to extend stay in our room, which was no problem and allowed us to enjoy a full last day in New York. Hotel booked a car for us for return to Airport all arrived on time, in fact was early, considering New York traffic, especially on a Friday. We didn't have breakfast at hotel as wanted to experience the Diners and plenty of choice within metres of the Hotel for all meals. Would definitely recommend and hope to return. Made our first trip memorable..

Close to Times Square, no frills

Next time we visit I'll spend the few extra dollars to stay at Hilton. Noisy heat, no fridge, fan in bath broken.
