Great boutique New York Hotel

Posted 15-Dec-2014
Location: Soho location.
This hotel was way beyond expectations. Decent price for a NY hotel. Very attractive design. Hip. Great restaurant with great style. Room was amazingly quiet. Room was small, but very comfortable and very stylish. Great experience here. I have already recommended it to many friends and colleagues. I gave it all 5s because there really was nothing about this hotel that I would improve.

Overpriced

Posted 07-Dec-2014
We were very excited to stay at the Hotel Hugo but found the hotel to be in a somewhat deserted area of Soho (closer to Tribeca). Thought the room was not worth the price we paid - very tiny for a so called superior king, no fan in the bathroom, no tub and a shower that leaked all over the floor, very tiny bath towels. Staff was all great and the Americano from the restaurant was excellent. We would not stay here again or recommend it.

Great Hotel

Posted 26-Nov-2014
Great new hotel. Between some of the best areas in Manhatten, walking distance to great neighbourhoods, shops and restaurants. Very close to subway stop for easy access to uptown or downtown. Loved our stay, great staff, nice rooms. Would book here again on our next visit.

Boutique hotel in Lower Manhattan

Posted 18-Nov-2014
Nice, quaint hotel on quiet street in Lower Manhattan. Relatively easy to park around the vicinity. Small rooms - but that's not unusual for Manhattan - fitted to a good standard. Clean and comfortable. Lobby decoration has some nice touches and feels welcoming. Bar with fantastic view on the rooftop. Personnel generally pleasant.

Really good location close to subways and shops.

Posted 17-Nov-2014
Pros: Location and overall ambiance.
Cons: Storage space at least for one standing suitcase as the closet space was taken up with the safe and other guest amenities.
Location: Approx a ten minute walk to West Broadway and five minute walk to at least two subway stations.
Welcoming, stylish and very, very friendly efficient staff.

Nice property but challenging location

Posted 15-Nov-2014
Pros: Price, rooms.
Cons: Not much.
Location: This is the issue. A 10-15min walk from SoHo. Westfields is a good breakfast place nearby.
This a nice property at a very reasonable price. The location is very challenging - on a side street a good walk from anything you would want to see or do.

Nice hotel but small rooms

Posted 03-Nov-2014
Hotel and staff were very nice. Room is fine for 1 person but would be too small for 2.

Dear Guest—Thank you for taking the time to rate us. I apologize if you felt the room was a bit on the small side. As you may know, NYC boutique hotels suffer from space constraints. Hotel Hugo is no exception. However, we are by no means smaller than other boutique hotels in NYC. I also want to point out that our Double Double and Deluxe King more than comfortably accommodate two. We also feel that Hotel Hugo's modern design elements and general ambiance and room comfort (commonly mentioned in reviews such as this) continues to set us apart and more than compensates for any space constraints. Once again, thank you for your comments. I do hope that you would consider staying with us again in the future. - Sincerely, David McManus

Nice hotel, a bit off the beaten path

Posted 28-Oct-2014
Pros: Chic appointments.
Cons: AC and the smell
The Hugo is a new, chic hotel in sort of the Soho area. When the Spring street A C E trains are running, it is pretty convenient to get around, but this weekend they weren't so it made it a bit more difficult, and expensive with cabs. The roof top bar is nice with exceptional views of the city. Can definitely get crowded and loud. Service there was fairly pleasant. Our room was clean and bathroom was large. Nice fridge and mini-bar but would have probably rather had more drawers instead of a fridge. Room was small, but chic. It is New York. The main 'drawback' for us is that the room had a funny smell, like wet concrete. There is a lot of concrete as decorative elements in this hotel so that might be the issue. I kept meaning to buy a candle or air freshener. Also, AC was a little challenging. I would recommend the hotel but bring an air freshener

Dear Bruce—I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to share some thoughts about your recent stay. I'm very pleased to know that you give Hotel Hugo your recommendation. I also wanted to apologize if there was anything unusual by way of the scent of the room. That is certainly not a common criticism, so we will certainly look into this. Once again, thank you for the kind words and thank you for choosing Hotel Hugo. - Sincerely, David McManus
