Fine for a quick trip but way too small

Posted 11-Sep-2014
Pros: Comfortable beds // Amazing location // Super friendly & helpful staff // Good shower head (rain head with good pressure) // Modern decor
Cons: * Small rooms/TINY bathrooms * Bathrooms with no counter space * Not so great bed pillows * Dim rooms * Mediocre room service that ends EARLY
Let me start by staying that as someone who took over 20 business trips to New York in the past year, I've stayed in a LOT of hotels in the city. My favorites (The Andaz, Crosby Street, Langham, Mondrian Soho) were booked due to NYFW, so I wound up at Hotel Chandler. The rooms here are SMALL. Not small as in, typical NYC small. Small as in S-M-A-L-L no matter WHAT city you're in. I stayed here for just two nights, was barely in the room, and it was still small to the point of constant annoyance. I can't imagine sharing one of these rooms with another person, or staying for much longer than a couple of nights. The bathrooms were the worst part: there is literally no counter space, and the tiny fluorescent room feels like you're in a single-stall public restroom. Did I mention that there is LITERALLY NO COUNTER SPACE? To counter all that -- the decor is pretty sleek and modern, and the staff is fantastic. If you're used to staying in more budget hotels, this could definitely feel like a bit of a luxury -- so if price is what you're worried about, I'd actually recommend giving the Chandler a try. However, if you're used to the higher-end hotels, this will probably feel like a bit of a downgrade.

Nice Hotel

Posted 01-Sep-2014
Pros: Staff was pleasant and did everything they could to make it a pleasant experience.
Cons: Size of room could be bigger but it is New York so can't really deduct any points for this.
Location: The best part is the closeness to multiple major landmarks in Manhattan and that it is close to Ktown
I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Chandler. The staff was probably the best part of the experience. They made sure everything I needed was available. They were super friendly and answered all of my requests in a personal manner. The room itself was VERY clean which was the MAIN reason why I booked this place. I usually live at a friend's place in new york so I don't really have any idea on how to compare the size of the room to other new york hotel room sizes but I assume its pretty similar and therefore I will say it was manageable for three people (executive suite). Free wifi was a nice touch. Ninth floor was pretty quiet in general. The bathroom was small (not like you spend a lot of time in the restroom anyways) but the Molton Brown soap/shampoo set was great. The lobby had a lot of nice sitting areas and a self serve coffee/tea area. I think the best parts are the location (close to subway ~3 blocks and that it was one street below Ktown), the staff was amazing, and free unlimited coffee and tea. I personally never had any room issues that needed to be fixed but as I was waiting to be helped at the front desk, the staff seemed attentive and very understanding with other guests who need switching rooms for whatever reason. So in conclusions, good staff and clean room. I would definitely come back. The valet was 40 bucks for 24 hours.

Well situated Hotel in NYC

Posted 24-Aug-2014
Pros: Nicely decorated (somewhat dark), very clean Hotel
Cons: They could advise guests regarding the noise levels from the construction works, and provide them with higher or better insulated rooms
Location: Midtown Manhattan, very close to the Empire State Building and on walking distance to Times Square or the Theater District
The hotel is situated in Midtown Manhattan, very close to the Empire State Building, pictures of the rooms are deceiving, they are very small and everything feels cramped, everything is well maintained and clean; staff is always polite and attentive to your needs (they even recall your name); but they failed to offer me a room upgrade or any other perks that they are supposed to provide for being part of the VIP Access partner program. The hotel, nevertheless, offers very comfortable rooms, albeit very small (but that is the norm in NYC). There are some construction going on very close to the Hotel or in the Hotel itself, they begun early in the morning with a very loud noise that prevents any rest from that moment on. I would think the Hotel is overrated at 4.5 stars

Good location for NYC

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: The ambience, the staff and locale was just as it should be.
Cons: Quieten down the air conditioning units in the bedrooms, and lower the prices in the bar and restaraunt.
Location: The hotel is situated about two blocks from the Empire state building, not far from Times Square or any of the other main attractions.
The hotel was very pleasant, the room was a little on the small side but as it's only for sleeping in, it's not a huge issue. The bed was very comfortable. It was particularly hot and unfortunately the air conditioning unit was too noisy to keep on all night so it was a little uncomfortable in the heat, not a complaint, just an observation. We did not try the restaraunt as it was very expensive, we did try the bar, $30 for 2 drinks was a little excessive! Overall though, I would be happy enough to stay there again.

Decent hotel

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: Decent sized rooms for NYC
Cons: Extremely loud air conditioner - woke up every time it went on
Location: Great location - check out a map
Decent hotel - got a good deal with a flight/hotel booking from Expedia. Molton Brown toiletries are nice. Nice shower. A very decent hotel would stay again if the price was right.
