Walking distance to Times Square

Posted 20-Sep-2014
Room needs updating, but overall clean and staff was professional. Easy to find and close to Times Square. Cost of room a little high, but guess you pay for convenience and location.

Terrible hotel, close to Times Square though

Posted 18-Sep-2014
Pros: It was close to Times Square, I guess....but then we could've just taken sleeping bags and slept in Times Square and it would've been cleaner.
Cons: They could demolish the building and build a real hotel.
Location: It is right next to Times Square, walking distance from Grand Central Station, close to the Metro if you want to get around to other parts.
Where to start, where to start. Room cleanliness: Floors weren't vacuumed, stains on furniture, bedding, and walls, tub had hairs in it (yuck!), when taking towels down from the towel rack, debris was falling on to the sink, and under the bed was just terrifying. Room condition: walls were lopsided and looked like they had been done by an 8 year old, doors would get stuck/not close, one of the rooms the "TV" was barely larger than a laptop and it had static when watching it, the medicine cabinet wouldn't stay closed so you had to constantly hold it closed, the toilet would spray it's contents everywhere when you flush. Hotel staff: totally useless and unhelpful, when we raised some concerns they told us "someone will be up in a few minutes", 3 hours later when we came back nothing had been fixed so when we asked again they told us no one was in hotel that could fix, we asked about changing the room and they said they had other rooms but couldn't change us since housekeeping had ALSO left for the day, one of the rooms the keycards were disabled 3 hours before out check-out time Not worth the money, even for the location.

Fantastic location and ideal for tourists!

Posted 18-Sep-2014
We were expecting the worst to be honest after the reviews and even considered cancelling and paying a further £400 on top of the price for somewhere else in the area. We were pleasantly surprised, yes the decor is in extreme need of TLC thread carpet plaster coming away from the wall however it's clearly an old building. In our opinion though the positives outweigh the negatives the staff were lovely and helpful and there was security at the front door. The room was clean as was the bedding and the air conditioning worked well. Our room 907 had no view although we learnt to appreciate it as it was quiet all the time. We never experienced any wait for the lifts. The biggest positive was the location between 7&8th avenue it was 1/2 block from Times Square. We walked everywhere and the subway/bus terminal was only a block away should you need it. Useful for return to JFK as the shuttle from the bus terminal was 1/2 the price of that at the hotel. All in all if you intend you use your room as a bed and shower facility this hotel is great. Otherwise I probably would recommend paying extra and going elsewhere as it was literally a bed shower room closet and television. As tourists we would stay again. Hope this is helpful :-)

Pros: Price
Cons: Demolish.
Location: Horrible
One of the worst. Wrong place to live, as crowded like animal fair.

Budget hotel

Posted 18-Sep-2014
Pros: Convenient location
Cons: General room decoration and finishes.
Location: Ideal location just 200yds from Times Square. Access to Theatres and Tour buses very convenient. Good mix of high end and gift stores.
First room occupied was basic but ok. Required relocation on 3rd night. Second room was an upgrade and very comfortable but no hot or even warm water.

Pros: nobody bothers you
Cons: as i have mentioned above
Location: just of times square(200yards) ideal for madam tusuads, grand central station, duffy square, empirre state 7 blocks away (approx)
okay for night time but could do with a set of drawers, to keep your clothes in, room not to bad, but could do with a couple of seats as sitting on the bed is not ideal, also a window view would have been nice,(a brick wall)overall not bad,

AWFUL

The only thing that makes this hotel "popular" is the location, but I will not stay there again. You have to pay for everything, they do not clean the room everyday, the towels are soooo old that they barely dry...

Least expensive for a reason

Posted 14-Sep-2014
Pros: Location. Security.
Cons: Cleanliness, better furnishings.
Location: Great location if Broadway is your thing.
The rooms are very dated, carpets in the hall are especially filthy and stained, carpet in my room had a huge hole, dresser top was broken but drawers were functional. My friend's room had only some sort of desk, no drawers. Bathroom was a good size but again, dated and worn. Cracked sink, old slippery tub. Poor water pressure but manageable temperature. Had a lovely large closet with lots of hooks. BUT, and here is the good part, the bed was quite comfortable. Sheets were clean and stamped Warwick Hotel (a much more expensive place) so I assume they were secondhand... But again, clean and comfortable. I had some concerns about the fuzzy throw that served as a comforter/bedspread but it was actually cozy and seemed clean. Windows were very dirty. Staff were friendly but handcuffed by the old building, lack of renovations, etc. about $50 cheaper a night than its nearest competitor. Air conditioner blew right across the bed but closing the curtain helped. Hair dryer was not in room but when I asked, they had one to give me. Security in lobby was reassuring and I felt safe. And location was great.

it's all about Time Square.

Posted 13-Sep-2014
Pros: the location was everything.
Cons: the furniture in the room was old.
Location: it was just a half block from the heart of Times Square. the theatres were a stones throw from the front door.
my wife has mobility issues so the proximity to Times Square was a plus. we did not spend much time there as we were out early and returned late.
