“Repeat visitor”
While it was not as fabulous as I remembered from previous visit, it was still a good stay. The beds are super comfy and rooms decent size considering what other hotels offer. The staff was always friendly and courteous. We loved the location with it's close proximity to places of interest, dining options and the subway line. The downfall of having a nicer room with a view is the street noise; it was endless, but of no fault of the hotel. There were small issues with the blinds, toilet and grout in shower.
“EXCELLENT HOTEL ON THE UPPER WEST SIDE OF NEW YORK”
This hotel is not modern, but it is reasonable, comfortabe & well located on the Upper West - Side of Manhattan. You will need to take the a bus or subway to the down town theatre district. The subway is only a few blocks away from the hotel. Take the #3 express train to Times Square or Penn Station and the ride will be less than 10 minutes. There are many small restaurants in the area. But sadly, as of December 2011, they have demolished my favorite the Manhattan Diner to make way for another multi-million dollar condo. These modern condos are destroying the quaintness of Seinfeld country.
“Wonderful West Side Location”
I thought this was a great little boutique hotel. Some of the staff were excellent. Some not so much. It took them over an hour to retrieve my car...make sure you call ahead in plently of time. I would stay again and would recommend this to my friends. I would like to see better prepared staff.
“Outstanding service! Definitely going back!”
The staff at HB could not have been any nicer or accomodating. Easily one of the best values on the Upper West Side. Make sure to impress your loved one with the Celebrations package. Looking forward to staying there again in the Spring!
“Came for a Conference”
The Hotel is older and it shows. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Rooms are pretty clean.
“Go for it!”
One of the better reasonably priced hotels in Manhattan. Ignore the bad reviews that took place during this hotel's renovation. Now that is done, it is a very nice, quiet, excellently located hotel on the upper West Side. Convenient to the subway and the Museum of Natural History and Times Square. Nice simple yet stylish room. Only minor compliant is that there was not a dresser in the room, although there was a nice big closet.. Go for it.
“Devoted staff, great service, hotel "a faded lady"”
The outstanding thing about the Belleclaire is its wonderful attentive staff, mostly of eastern European origin. The hotel was probably converted from a lovely pre-war apartment building and remodeled several times. The exterior was scaffolded. The recent interior remodeling resulted in small rooms with an Art Deco flavor and ingenious and beautiful tiny marble bathrooms. It's very clean. Amenities are sparse; only a single ice machine off the lobby and a coffee urn in the lobby. There is no associated restaurant, coffee shop, bar or room service, but they will do laundry. We were visiting our family and the hotel was very convenient for us and we like the neighborhood, a bit above Lincoln Center, a few blocks below Zabar's, lots of shops on Broadway. We will certainly stay there again.
“Good for couple days visiting”
Nice Hotel, staff gently, room nice and clean. Hotel is not close to downtown but also not so far. Parking is very expensiv.
“YES”
I will Def go back
“Good value”
Hotel in great spot. train stations are 2 blocks north or 5 blocks south for express. Room was largest I've had in Manhattan, plus there was a small fridge. Cold breeze blowing in from window Air Conditioner so we threw a towel over it to stop the wind from coming in. Other than that, room was comfy. Water pressure in shower good, lots of hot water. Room was on 2nd floor facing street. Single pane windows don't keep out the street sounds, but I find the city sound personally keep me awake anyway every visit. Would totally recommend.
