“Excellent experience”
We had an overall excellent experience at the Helmsley Park Lane. The location is the best in the city, the staff is the most accomodating, the hotel and room was beautiful! We will definitely be returning!!
“Awesome Location!”
While this hotel may be a little older, the size of the rooms were great and you couldn't beat the location! We will definitely stay here again!
“Slightly tired hotel but fantastic location”
Our room was slightly tired looking and in need of a fresh coat of paint, but it was clean, comfortable (bed especially so) and large by NY standards. Location is perfect - Central Park right across the street, 5th Ave shops within 5 minutes and most other tourist destinations (Empire State, Rockefeller etc) all in easy walking distance. Didn't have the best experience of the hotel bar (Harry's Bar) - it gets very busy in the evening, is expensive and we caught the sharp end of an extremely grumpy waiter when we wanted to move tables. Also, unless you're an early riser, be prepared to queue for breakfast - most people seemed to be waiting for 15-20 minutes to be seated (although this may be a City-wide standard as we had to queue / wait for most restaurant bookings). I'm glad we got a good deal on the price - if we'd have paid full rate then I'd have felt let down by the overall experience - but for the location and general level of service / comfort the hotel provides, then I'm satisfied we got value for money.
“NYC best location”
The hotel is a litlle outdated but the location is amazing, betwen The Plaza and The Ritz in front of Central Park. The hotel and the restaurant have very nice wiew of Central park
“In need of a refurbishment”
Great location but the hotel is very 'tired' and the bedrooms in dire need of a refurbishment. Only book the more expensive re-furbished rooms on the Executive floors, but even these rooms don't have re-furbished bathrooms.
“Great Location”
The location can't be beat. If you like to wander Central Park, shop down 5th Avenue, or check out the Broadway shows, this is the perfect spot. Some of the rooms need to be updated, but the staff is friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
“Great location and customer service”
Everything about the hotel was wonderful, except for the bathroom. Needs updating and a thorough cleaning. Room smelled very musty, with the wallpaper starting to peel back and mold on some areas of the grout. I told the front desk about the smell the next day. I think Housekeeping did try to alleviate the problem, but it wasn't. Other than that, the location was fantastic. The service was great, and the room was very nice. I'm usually very picky about the hotels I stay in, but I would stay here again, as long as the bathroom smelled clean.
“sweet 16!”
New York Classic style!
“Great location but lacks of cleanliness. Service can be improved.”
View from our room was spectacular but we asked for a none smoking room and the whole floor smelled like cigarrette. It is anoying that an internate rate is daily charged. Concierge service must be improved and doubled in personnel.
“Old and dated”
This hotel was so old and dated. Yes, it had the best views ever but the decor was awful. It actually had an old dorm room style refrigerater in the bathroom under the sink next to the toilet. The bathroom was tiny with 1970's sink and tile. I paid a lot of money for this room and was very disappointed.
