“Very Nice hotel, cramped room”

The hotel was lovely, in a great location, a decent breakfast and the room and hotel in general was very clean. My only two issues were with the room size, there were three of us in a double double (2 double beds in one room) and the room was very cramped. There was hardly enough space for our luggage; although the beds were a decent size. My second issue was a cleaning cart that was left in the corridor outside our room practically the entire stay, bit annoying but I could live with it, others might be have been more annoyed. They also did a decent car service to the airport, $65 including tolls and tip, it was a nice large town car, very comfortable and spacious and saved on us flagging down and struggling to get our things into a cab/taxi. Overall I would recommend this hotel, just be prepared to squeeze things in if you have a lot of bags!

Area recommendations
Can't really go wrong with many places in Manhattan, this hotel was located in Madison Square Garden area, very close to many of Manhattan's major attractions, such as Rockefeller Centre, Empire State Building, 5th Ave, Time Square. Very Good Location.
Getting around
If you're not in a rush, I'd recommend walking, you'll see a lot more and find things to do and see that you may not have even known existed. However you have to experience the New York Yellow taxi's, subway and buses!

“Daughter's 21st birthday trip”

What a wonderful experience we had on out trip to New York. This was my daughter's dream/ Going to New York. For her 21st birthday, I always wanted to take her to Las Vegas, she always wanted to go to New York. So New York here we came. The Hotel was everything that I had hoped it would be. Clean, the staff was always friendly and went about the call of duty. The breakfast was always awesome and this was a must. Sometimes they would get very busy, but there was always enough. The beds were very comfortable for a great night of sleeping. Close to everything that we needed to be. One of my most wonderful memories was coming back to the hotel, it was cold and raining outside, we went to get a cup of hot coffee and was told that there was some hot apple spiced cider and broccoli and cheese soup. What a wonderful feeling that was and the hot apple spiced cider and soup was a plus. I would most definitely recommend this hotel and if I ever go back, I know where I will be staying.

Area recommendations
Family, Grandmother, Mother and Daughter/Granddaughter who turned 21.
Getting around
The sub way and bus system was so easy. If I could do it, I know you can. The subway was awesome.
Must see
Grand Central Station, St. Paul's Church along with the 911 memorial, Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Central Park, walking along 5th and 6th Ave from 31st up towards Central Park. Do this in the day time and then again at night time.
Shopping
The most impressive store I have ever been in, was Century 21 Discount. I really do not like shopping at all but this is the store to shop at.

“will definately return”

Great proximity to subways and if you put on your walking shoes lots to see within walking distance. The room was cozy, breakfast was included ( a great plus). The staff I encountered were very helpful and pleasant. I really had no complaints. But if i did want to complain, the worse was probably i had no view.....office building,,,,so as you can see, this hotel was great and served my purposes.

Area recommendations
The area is great for all, A mall across the street, koreatown, 5th Avenue..Times square within walking distance, Macy's , Rockerfeller Center, MSG, restos, etc.....something for all.
Getting around
Getting around by subway is pretty easy, Take a few minutes to get a feel of the map and ask 1 or 2 people to confirm. Why waste time getting lost. so much to do instead. Everyone I asked were happy to help. If you're in town for more than 4 days, - depending on how much you plan on doing/seeing, it may worth if for you to purchase the 7 day unlimited pass. Hop on hop off as much as you want.

“NIce place to stay and close to the action”

Loved the kind attentive staff. The hotel was exceptionally clean (a must for my neat freak spouse). Only a block from MSG and a short walk to Times Square. Loved the value and convienience.

“I really want to like this hotel but it is impossible.”

This is my second visit to this hotel. Two years ago we stayed two nights and although the hotel is advertised as Smoke Free my room became inundated with smoke to the point I had difficulty breathing. I called the front desk, they expressed concern and surprise and promised to send someone to look into it right away. It never got better. When asked about my stay I told the woman behind the counter about my experiences and was told "that is very hard to moniter". Completely unacceptable. It was not my intention to ever stay here again but once again this hotel was one of the best values within walking distance of Penn Station that had rooms available the nights we needed. There had been some remodeling and the hotel was still very nice looking. From the first night our neighbors began going in and out of their rooms and adjoining rooms until at least 2am allowing the doors to slam loudly and talking loudly in the halls, with the doors open and in their rooms. It was impolssible to sleep. We called the desk 5 times and were eventually told security was being sent. Finally they quieted enough to sleep after 2am. We were promised a free night's stay coupon would be mailed to us for this night. The second night by 1am our room had filled with smoke again and doors were being slammed again and loud partying made it impossible to sleep. We called the desk, explained these problems and asked to be moved. No more smoke, no more noise and FINALLY sleep. We will never stay here again.

I LOVE New York! We always have a great time when we come. Times Square, Central Park, Koreatown, you name it!

“Very nice, clean and close to sights”

Staff were very helpful, hotel was very clean, free breakfast. The room (twin share) was quite small, but that wasn't really a problem because we were out all day. We were on the 14 floor which gave us a pretty good view of other buildings, but that's just NYC. We were however able to see the tip of the Empire State building from our room.

Area recommendations
There is so much to see close by, and so much to see not that far away. The Empire State building is very close, which is a must to go up to the Observation Deck.
What to pack
Make sure you pack an umbrella, it came in very handy several times in the week we were there. However, there are plenty of places to buy one.

“Will return”

I agree with and won't repeat what others have rightly said about the hotel's excellent location. Our room was "tight" with little hanging / storage space but it was comfortable, clean and quiet (12th floor), even though we faced the front of the building. The breakfast is not haute cuisine but there's plenty of it and plenty of variety and it's much more convenient that having to go out for breakfast (and pay for it!). The staff are very, very friendly and helpful. I would certainly use this hotel again.

Area recommendations
NY City is the capital of the world. Enjoy and marvel at as much of it as you can fit into whatever time you have.
When to go
The fall / autumn. Cool but sunny and trees in glorious living colour.
Getting around
Subway plus comfortable shoes.
Must see
Try the Museum of Contemporary Art on Bowery Avenue. Wacky!

“What a pleasant surprise”

The moment we walked into the hotel we were made to feel welcome. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was compact, but with everything you would need, and the beds were really comfortable. The buffet breakfast was great, offering a ranged of cereals, cooked breakfast, fresh fruit, cakes and you even had the opportunity to cook your own waffles. They also offered a 'takeaway' breakfast bag for those people that needed this. Free tea and coffee was also available throughout the day/evening and the home cooked cookies were great! There was also free internet access in the reception area which was really useful, especially when you wished to check-in on line and print your boarding passes off. My only complaint would be that the air con in the bedroom was rather noisy. Overall I can say that this hotel was great value for moeny and I would definitely consider staying there again if I had the opportunity to vist NY again.
